I do not. Our secondary may be the best we've had in as long as I've been following.

LB's should 100% be better than last year - Bailey came on strong and Hopper is legit.

The front is not only better, we finally have depth. The kid from OSU is a massive upgrade.

Well, until we have a good defense under Drink, we haven't had a good defense under Drink. Odds are it has to improve this year because last year was so historically bad. It would be great if it goes from worst-in-country to actually being good (top 35 or so) but I'm going to wait and see.

Cant blame you for waiting and seeing, but I guess im stuck on how one could look more forward to offense than defense next year.

No, no, no...I was clearly told we win by 7 AT BEST.
Probably decided by a last minute FG.

Drinkwitz finally got a good enough DC. He is lights years better than the last two. Also, he does a good job as a LB/S coach. That is where defense shall improve. There are some glaring questions. Are the OLs and DLs being much improved and have good back up and depth? Then can the quarterback get the offense going regularly? I know Sam Horn will be a huge upgrade but not ready right now. Next year but we need good OLs to protect the quarterback and help open up holes for the running back(s). We are talking about SEC level of talents. Drinkwitz will need to find a way to get wins this year. 8-4 will do it. Any less than 8 wins may hurt getting some really good OLs and DLs. It does matter to keep up with the top teams that recruit at the top 10 every year.

I think we'll win by 10-13. The La Tech QB is comfortable with their coaches system, I believe he played under him when he was at TCU.

I am a gambling man and will be taking La Tech and the points in this one. I just don't see us cruising in this game. I think we'll definitely have some kinks we need to work out. Feels like a trap game.

We've got some major issues if we can't handily beat a team that went 3-9 last year in Conference USA.

I know it's the first game but this should be a 20 point win with the second stringers closing out the fourth quarter.

I'm sticking with my 66-3 prediction.....Cook throws for 2,000 yds and 10 TDs......

This isn't a team that was 3-9 last year. This is a new team and has a new coach and a ton of transfers. Odds are their offense will be good enough to cause some problems if our defense doesn't play clean. Expecting mistake free football from our defense is putting the bar very high.

Drink had 2 full years to get the team to be competitive. How come Louisiana Tech get a huge jump and not Mizzou? Is it because of Drinkwitz? Is that you saying Drinkwitz isn't a very good HC?

At this point, people should be asking questions of Drink's ability. I haven't given up on him but he really hasn't shown any real progress yet.

and la tech doesnt "get a huge jump." They just have the potential for it and it goes against our biggest weakness, defense. Crumbie is a solid offensive coach.

41-21

I think Mizzou dominates the line of scrimmage midway through the 3rd and salts the game away.

Gabe on LA Tech:

"Missouri is favored in this game by 19 points. Which surprises me. Tech was 3-9 last year and got a new coach. But the Bulldogs lost five games by one score, pushed NC State and had a three-touchdown lead on Mississippi State. I don’t think they’re terrible. And openers can be weird. I think Missouri should win. I don’t think it will be quite as easy as Mizzou fans want it to be."

Anyone worried?

Roster is the key. If Mizzou roster has much better overall key players, then it comes down to a win for Mizzou. The game will be in Columbia. There should be no excuses for not winning by 19 or more points. Got to get a statement win to show fans, experts, and some top recruits that Mizzou is a much better team than last year. In order to get some top recruits, Drinkwitz will need to show his team is going in the right direction and will get to compete against top team in the near future.
