Just got a CB to Bama from Fong. Not really one who watches the CB picks religiously, but getting Fonged seems like a fairly big deal. UGA Bama battle it seems like.

OSU originally lead and UGA/Bama was #2.

T-Rob has felt extremely confident with Downs and Cormani McClain for a few weeks now. Could be a special DB class this cycle!

Daddy Downs has a real hardon for UGA and Kirby.
It's alleged that Daddy wasn't offered when he was in HS and is still pissed about it however many years later. Also, I don't think we offered Josh before he went to Chapel Hill. He clearly is trying to nudge Caleb anywhere but Athens.
It sucks because Caleb is a hell of a player at a position we are dying for quality.

Yea you poor bastards and your pitiful roster, I bet you probably haven't signed more than 6-7 5 star defensive backs in the last 3 classes.

In fairness, we have signed two safeties in the past three classes, and one (Major Burns) has transferred out. We did pick up Tykee Smith from the portal, but (I think) this will be his last year.
I'm not sure if any of our CBs we have singed are able to play safety or not, though. I am hoping they can. We typically like to have one box safety capable of playing near the line for the run and one play making safety that plays back and goes more for turnovers.
Either way, FloydDawg is correct that Downs is a great player and whoever gets him will get a really good player.

Dawg fans are going to miss out on the instate #1, 5* Safety and have to settle for the #2, 5* Safety, Joenel Auguero who is announcing July 23rd. Yup, life sucks as a Dawg fan

Difference is Aguero’s build is turning him into more of a box safety whereas Downs is a better fit at FS. Right now, we need the latter though we will gladly take the former versus none at all.
