Would be great, they should do it...

I don't think he'd make the move unless Tech promised to actually open the purse for the program.
Deion Sanders wouldn't jump to any P5 program unless that program fully commits to being a winner.
And I don't see a world in which Tech tries to rediscover their athletic department.

Nah… Prime will be FSU’s coach after they fire that bum at the end of the season.

He would be more likely to turn Ga State into a G5 powerhouse than do anything of merit at Tech where the resources suck and the academics aren’t conducive to attracting and retaining a lot of high school talent. No doubt he could succeed in selling Atlanta better than Collins but Tech has some systemic issues to address before they’re going to be competitive in football again any time soon

Tech isn't going to hire Coach Prime. He could certainly recruit better than GT is doing now, but so could a mushroom.

Tech should hire Jeff Monken from Army but they are too arrogant to go back to the option.

they would simply put them right back where they were, which would eventually put them right back where they currently are down the road.
Getting rid of the option is what tech needed to do to move forward as a program they just obviously aren't going to win much with the losers they have now. Comparing us to tech, let's say dooley leaving and tech ditching the option are both ground zero. We hired Goff which overall was a disaster but he at least brought in some serious talent and gave the next guy a little something to work with. Collins wasn't brought in to win 10 games he was (presumably, I guess?) brought in to at least put some guys on the roster that know how to do something other than block or cut block, and ideally turn the keys over to someone better down the road.
At least that's the way I look at it. Going back to the option would be going backwards for them in a big way.

I don't think there is a viable path forward for them to be competitive in recruiting or on the field. They are like Kansas. They need something different schematically because they will never make up the talent gap.
They need to accept what kind of program they are and hire accordingly.

Such a horrible decision to move away from the triple option
They should have been content to steal random wins from us, while remaining in the middle of the ACC pack with the occasional year falling arse backwards into an ACCCG
They will know nothing but pain, anguish, and despair as long as they try to stand toe-to-toe with real football schools. Their history from the 1950's isn't going to help them in 2022, but a 1950's offense will help them level the playing field.
Unless they open the engine up and throw some money into their program, they don't stand a chance running anything other than the triple option.

I agree on the short term, they are so far behind the 8 ball that doing something gimmicky like the option is a big equalizer for them.

the gap with us? Of course they won't. But being in Atlanta they can certainly close the gap on half of the putrid ACC. There's no reason a decent coach couldn't recruit atlanta well enough to overtake the wake forest, nc state, virginia, syracuse, etcs of the league.

downtown atlanta is a lot more appealing to 18 year old urban youth football players than kansas.

As a uga fan I agree, I love seeing them wallow in mediocrity. But if I'm tech why would I not want to try to improve? If you go back to the option you've basically thrown in the towel and said "look, we're never going to win much of substance. We have ZERO chance at playoffs and pretty much a barely non-zero chance at winning our league. But we'll beat the bottom feeders we're supposed to and every couple years will sneak up and upset a top 20 ranked team, and if that's our ceilling then so be it"

That is Tech's ceiling right now. Their admin and their fans/alumni do not give a shite.

I don't disagree, actually that might even be generous for their ceiling as of this moment. I'm just saying that if I were their AD I would at least TRY to shoot for higher, and the triple option doesn't do that.

THIS. And he'll take that blue chip kid he snookered into going to Jackson State with him.

Tech’s biggest issues right now are
1. Alumni Apathy - The majority of their grads (and a lot of their students) simply don’t give a shite about football and almost certainly don’t donate high dollars with much regularity to the program. There are ways to massage that but it requires a significant investment on the part of the school leadership and a willingness to stick to a longterm strategy of culture building at a school that traditionally thumbs it’s nose at Athletic endeavors as anything other than a casual distraction. And given that Tech’s application rate and academic standing are doing just fine, the leadership has next to no motivation to do this.
This is exacerbated further by their biggest rival living through a golden era of both alumni engagement/giving and team success/brand power. Almost impossible to get a meaningful collective off the ground for NIL, let alone sustain it to remain competitive
2. Tech is not Transfer friendly - Academically speaking, it’s not just that Tech has hard majors (they also have business management and some liberal arts majors they can use). Rather, Tech’s transfer requirements to get in are exceedingly difficult with Calc I and Calc II as base requirements. They cannot survive in the Portal era without some Presidential admits of transfers in which is an even riskier proposition for Tech compared to a school like UGA where you can more easily mask the academic deficiencies of transfers

Well, he won’t be. Norvel has only the 2022 season to win at least 7 and a bowl. If he doesn’t, he’ll get fired and FSU will hire Sanders there…..or, that’s what a booster I know tells me, anyway.

Man my brothers best friend is their biggest fan. I feel bad for the dude. He loves tech football. Will literally sit in Bobby Dodd and cheer for them getting blown out 42-7. He’s gotta be the only one left like that though.
