Meanwhile Derrick Henry holds the SEC rushing record, did it on fewer attempts, did it against better competition and lead his team to a national championship.

Derrick Henry 3591 yards rushing vs Herschel Walker 5259 yards rushing. It's probably challenging for a bama fan to determine which number is higher.

One of the best runs I've ever seen was Rondell Mealey getting a 3 yd gain... it should have been a 7 yd loss. Think it was against Georgia.
Defense had a jailbreak, you'd have thought it was a screen it was so poorly blocked. Mealey had to juke and spin during the handoff in the I, and then swum, danced, spun and powered his way through 6 guys.
Herschel and Bo were a class above everyone else I've ever seen.

Henry is the best RB in modern SEC history, accounting for offensive changes to the game.
Herschel and Bo did it in run heavy, play action offenses with defenses built to stop the run first.
I think Henry's size, speed and power would have had him do well in the 80s and 90s, too. But, different eras and styles make it an impossible conversation to look at objectively.

And also averaged 1 less yard per carry and less TDs per carry than Fournette who also broke Herschel's record that year behind a far worse Oline and in 3 fewer games and 100 less carries. Add in receiving stats and Fournette unquestionably had the better year statistically while playing on a much worse team.

Derick Henry wasn’t even the best player on his team. Tj Yelden was way better IMO, Henry’s start/stop change of direction was too slow and would get eatin up in the backfield if the Ol didn’t dominate the DL creating 6 yards before contact ( which happened to most teams). He was a hammer because of his size and straight line speed but definitely was not the best running back in college history.
