You're one out away from winning the series, and your guy gives up a 3 run bomb. I get it. But it's not like you need the win to qualify for the tournament. He's 39-4, for crying out loud.

You tip your cap and move on to the next game. Plus, the bat flip by Au was actually tame compared to bat flips by his own players. I just don't get it.

It went straight towards their dugout

Call it an overreaction if you want and it was exacerbated by the situation, but I understand why he did it.

I think he would’ve done the same thing if that same bat flip happened and Tennessee was winning

You understand why he threw a bat at the opposing team.….RIGHT AFTER COMING OFF A 4-GAME SUSPENSION FOR BUMPING AN UMPIRE???

Please explain.

Vitello is immature

Dude really just needs an arse whipping. He obviously never was disciplined as a child because he still acts like one.

He fights for his players

Is it always justified? No. But in his mind, that’s what he’s doing. And it’s working out ok for him.

That's not fighting for players. That's crying like a bitch because a bat flip bounced twice and landed by his dugout.

As I said, justified or not, you can see he’s upset about the auburn bat flying towards Tennessees dugout.

Big nothingburger on both sides and everyone wants to cry about it.

Watch Auburns coach tell their pitcher to hit a Tennessee batter today, and nobody will care. Just weird to me.

Unsurprising a cock sucker like you who takes pretty much the wrong side of any controversial issue is defending Vitello here.

I’m not defending him, as I don’t think there’s anything to defend.

His actions scream LOOK AT ME! Bumping an umpire and getting suspended is a selfish act. How can you fight for your players when you’re gone for 4 games?

No, this isn’t about his players, this is about a selfish child who suffers severely from inferiority complex.

This has no place in amateur sports, and certainly can’t be tolerated as an employee of an institution for higher learning.

Amazing to see people getting twisted into a pretzel trying to defend Vitello.

The douchebag is indefensible. Will be interested to see if he is suspended once again.

He grabbed the bat, walked around for a few seconds staring at the Auburn players, and then chunked the bat towards the players. It was a calculated, bush league move, by a bush league coach. Nothing he does is considered sticking up for your players. Notice the greatest baseball coaches of all time, are not known for shenanigans like this.

The bat flip bounced a little closer to the UT dugout than you would like to see but that was the act of a kid out of excitement following probably the biggest hit in the kid's life. That douche coach is supposed to be the adult in the room. If he had an issue with it he should have walked the bat over to the umpire and complained to him. I think even most little league coaches understand that you address only the umpire, not opposing players or coaches. He's a clown and if UT wasn't so trashy they would be embarrassed of him.

Would you be upset at your players though on the flipside when they did similar things?

sometimes you gotta be a little chill on how upset you get at others when your guys do the same things

Really good coach, terrible human being. Pretty common story.
