Anybody heard any details? All I’ve heard is we can fire him but he can only retire.

So, basically a lifetime contract?

At his age I don't think jumping ship to another school is a real issue. His agent, of course, dangled that possibility during negotiations but I doubt anyone took it seriously.

He has a beautiful home in a part of the country near the rest of his family. His wife loves it here. He loves it here. He has plenty of money already and after the next couple of seasons that certainly won't be an issue.

He is 60 and he doesn't strike me as the type to hang onto coaching until the grim reaper drags him off the sidelines. Coach here for a few more years and he can still make an easy drive up to Fayetteville to be part of the program. Plus, he's a guy who loves to be loved and right now people in the state love him. I think he'll retire here.

I honestly expect him to retire in 5ish years, and the final 1-2 will be the Coach K, Roy Williams guiding of the next coach..

frick Odom as a HC, he refuses to recruit.
Wasn’t it his guys he brought in that didn’t recruit and were shown the door?

Can't say who actually recruited them, but haven't we brought several players over from Mizzou in the last few years?

55-17-1. Good grief. Can you imagine that sort of record over the last 5 or so years? We would be like the Angel of Death on the SEC Rant with our trolling.

What got Hatfield canned was going 1-5 in bowl games.

Went 10-2 his final two seasons with losses to UCLA and Tennessee in the Cotton Bowl.

After that it went to crap. Jack Crowe was hired to replace him.

The running joke back then was Ken was late every where he went because he wouldn’t pass. Our offense was good enough to win in the SWC but couldn’t beat the big boys and the fans were growing restless. Ken didn’t want to change and left and Broyles made a really bad hire.

The same can be said for Nutt, folks got bored with his 70’s coaching style and ran him off. Both of those coaches loved the program but couldn’t get over the hump.

I’m glad we have Sam now, he understands Hog football and brings that fire back that we’ve been missing.

Last coach to win a conference title. Then he won an ACC title at Clemson decades before Dabo won it for Clemson. Then he won the SWC title at Rice of all places.

Hatfield left before getting fired but it would be incredibly stupid to fire a coach that won back to back conference titles. Hog fans were spoiled and Frank could have definitely made that mistake of a firing. Hatfield was quoted as saying that Broyles was the reason he left. Other coaches from different sports said that Frank was hard to deal with. In Nolan Richardsons book, Hatfield left Broyles office with plays for the incoming game. He gave it to Nolan and he crumbled it up and threw it in a trash can. Hatfield had no control over his own team.

While his bowl records were bad, he faced some of the best football teams in the nation. He didn't lose to a Minnesota or a UNLV. The Tennessee game, Arkansas was the better team but five turnovers gave Tennessee a close win. When you win a major conference title, you ain't facing a Central Michigan in a bowl like Ole Miss did in a cream puff bowl buffet.

If Frank didn't make such shitty hires after Hatfield left then Arkansas wouldn't be so bad in football.

Sounds more like he had the opportunity to be more beloved than Frank, and there is no way he would let that happen.

I didn’t like Nutt because after every good year he would regress into 2-3 shite seasons…

It will be interesting how everyone will feel if this year turns to complete shite, which I personally can see happening. He's greatly overachieved up to this point. Hope I'm wrong, but this is Razorback Football

I don’t see it that way, he has achieved what those kids with that talent should have achieved under Morris.

I’ve said it before, I expect someone to drive a motorcycle in a ditch with a hooker and coke.
