First off, I do not know the financial dynamics of the situation so he may not have been in position to make any changes in the Big 3 but:
1) He was all set to keep Matt Luke and only made a change when forced
2) Basketball has been trending downward yet he keeps KD. Does anyone actually think KD will turn things around based on his first 4 years?
3) MB openly interviews with LSU, we end up keeping him.....this season is a reflection on why you cannot keep a guy who would do this....
Seems like we have a weak AD on the surface.

We really have no clue what was going on during this time as he didn't have his interim tag removed till Nov. 20th 2019. That is a massive decision to make while still being an interim AD. Lane was announced on Dec. 6th. That's a pretty quick turnaround when you take negotiations into account
We also finished 5th in the SEC for the Director's Cup....which gives a much broader picture to how the Athletic Department is doing as a whole.

Our smaller sports have flourished under him, although tennis on both sides has fallen this year

Listening to Ben Garrett's podcast, he said that Keith was all set to keep Matt Luke. Certain boosters got upset and forced him to make a change.
I'm trying to argue but my point is that Keith likes to hang on to situations where it seems a change needs to be made. I do not know how in the world you keep MB after he openly interviews with LSU last year. That is the biggest form of insubornation in my opinion.

I give a little slack for COVID. Everyone agreed that we had to move from AK so maybe give it some more time. If not, we will just cycle through head basketball coaches every 3 yrs.

From LSU so it's not like he was out interviewing everywhere he could. It's a pipe dream for him. This year could be his last based on merits. Let the year play out. I'm sure Keith is using the current time wisely in identifying candidates.

Everything that I had been told about the Bianco situation last year was that he and Ole Miss had every reason to believe the LSU job was his. We had an agreement in place already to hire McDonnel from Louisville and then LSU ghosted Bianco. Which really screwed us and him. It’s blatantly obvious that he’s done being here. He needs to be gone unless we go on some miracle run

You don't interview unless you know you have the job....plain and simple and you damn sure do not let it get out if you do interview.

Respectfully, why not fire MB and hire McDonnel? Once MB crossed the line and it got out that he interviewed, you can't bring the guy back. Like you said, it's obvious he doesn't want to be here.

We can't expect our AD to fire every coach who interviews with another program. What if all jobs worked that way? That's ridiculous. The real problem, and in fact the only problem, is that knowledge of that interview got out to the fanbase. Those things should always be kept on the extreme down low and evidently it was not.

I don't know what you do for a living, if you are self employed, retired, etc but if you are employed by a company and are out interviewing for another job and your boss finds out, you don't think there would be an issue there?
Sorry, we are going to have to agree to disagree.....coaches should not be interviewing for other jobs when they are employed by a program....now if they want to communicate through back channels, that is likely fine and happens all the time but for the coach to physically interview....you have crossed a line at that point. The fact that it got out should have been MB's walking papers...IMO...just a really bad look
I like McCready's take on this
"A coach can't interview for a job in the same division of the same conference, not get it and return"

That's fine no problem disagreeing. Again, the knowledge of the interview is a problem. But the bigger problem is this, if we really, really wanted to keep Bianco, then the knowledge of the interview would have been to really do everything we could to keep him, not just be his fallback. More money, etc. That happens all the time. If an employer finds out a valued employee is officially looking, they court them, they talk to them and do what they can to keep them. Hell, for whatever reason, I suppose we did with the contract extension. It's a weird world and we have some figuring out to do.

1. If he wanted to keep Matt Luke, he should be fired now. We don't need someone that stupid hiring our new baseball coach.
2. He made a mistake firing Kennedy and hiring Kermit. Kennedy is a better coach.
3. He should have told Bianco to keep the interview secret or resign. Letting that interview go public and then having LSU bitch slap Bianco and us is unforgivable.
This guy gets a lot of credit for hiring Lane. He had nothing to do with it. Lane picked where he wanted to go. Time for a real AD so we can hire a real baseball coach.

I’ll leave it at this: I have interviewed for other jobs and didn’t get them and the only people that knew were me and those who interviewed me. I’m no SEC baseball coach, but it’s just as important to me in my own little world and that it be kept confidential in the event it doesn’t work out. You would think it’s common sense.

If true, he got played like a brand new AD w/ no experience. We were hoping, begging, and praying for LSU to hire this bum and then were surprised they didn't take him? Pure stupidity.

I interviewed for three different jobs a few years back with my boss's knowledge. I was honest and transparent with him.
Those opportunities didn't pan out(some of it was my choice) and now my boss is giving me final training to take his position with him retiring later this year.
So...no. That mindset isn't always the case.

but I also can't really argue against this.

I have met Keith a few times. Really good guy but I stand by my original post. I am really questioning his decision making on our big 3 sports. Sometimes, it's just good for both parties to move on and in the case of MB, that should have happened last year. Anyone who expected anything different than what we are seeing this season is just not living in the real world.
Same with KD. We'll be having the same discussion after next basketball season.

The only difference is with the men’s basketball issue there won’t even be great expectations.

Really curious what the season ticket sales will be . I would Think they’ll be super low.
Who wants to watch this lame duck coach/team that is unwatchable anyway?

Yeah but the Pavilion! Wow what an incredible arena. A+++. Surely plenty of Rebs would drive in from all over on a Tuesday night just to watch the Rebs get wiped from the court. Right! Right???
