After 35-plus years of working for what is currently NWA Media,, Inc., I was told by upper management on Wednesday that that I would no longer be with the company. Intend to look at it as a fresh start and looking forward to seeing what the future holds.

I met both. Dudley was a nice guy. Clay got drunk at Smitty's garage in Fayetteville. He kept walking into tables and almost fell down.

If Clay does then he shouldn't.

Clay didn't fire him. Clay just resigned.

I have to believe Hawgs Illustrated will cease operation now and Dawson was a casualty of that. I don't know why you couldn't fire Bob Holt and have Dawson replace him, but not that many guys that age like working a beat.

All I know is, WEHCO media is notioriosly cheap and a failing enterprise. I'm not surprised at the decision.

Here is Henry's reasoning for resignation:

quote:

I began as editor of Hawgs Illustrated on April 13, 1992. Yes, that was on a Friday.

Obviously, I don’t fret about anything that happens on what some think is an ominous day. I see 13 as good luck. And for 30 years I've been lucky.
Our first cover was Jason Allen in full gear. Of course, Allen wore No. 13. I trot out Jason’s name in most speeches as a great trivia question.

This Wednesday will be my last April 13th at Hawgs Illustrated. My resignation as publisher and editor was accepted Friday night. I’m at work on one last magazine, Volume 31, Issue 6.
I’ve known for weeks — probably months — that it was time to step aside. It’s called burn out.

Many don’t know that I tried to step aside almost four years ago when Jean Ann and I made the decision to move from Fayetteville to a new home near the Norfork River in Baxter County.

That turned all 12 football games into road games. I’m two hours, 45 minutes from campus. I have done that drive too many times. Often I’ve made it twice a week. Gas prices keep going up. I ask myself why am I doing this every time I stop in Harrison for gas and coffee.
I never thought I’d do four years of putting together magazines from a remote location and go to every football game. I’ve about worn out a really nice pickup truck.

There are no airports close to Norfork. By the time you drive three hours to Little Rock or the XNA airport in Highfill, you might as well be east of Memphis on your drive to the game.

I've got to admit, I'm oddly sad about the Clay and Dudley news.

Dudley is my cousin though I've never met him - but I met his mom and his brother before their tragic car wreck - very sweet lady

Wally and Holt and Recruiting Guy were sitting in Fayetteville Tilted Kilt once some years back during a baseball weekend, and they just sat there staring at everybody walking by like they were the Darlin Boys from Andy Griffin

This did not go unnoticed, fan-fricking-tastic reference on the Darling Boys.

They all had to do if not then they would be fired. I remember when some in the media started speaking out and were either fired or had to find other jobs.

I remember when Chuck called hog fans terrorists for wanting Nutt fired. That type of arse kissing promoted him a better radio job that we know today.
