So he picks wisely but doesn’t sign the best prospects from the portal? I’m just trying to understand why the Prince of the portal wouldn’t want the national player of the year?

Do you know how a team gets to the tourney highly seeded?

The national player of the year might not have been the national player of the year in Musselman's system. If you'll note, he is the national player of the year but doesn't project high enough to leave for the NBA yet. If he ever will. I don't know if his game translates all that well to the NBA.

That's neither here nor there. The point is that Musselman took those transfers he had this year and beat the national player of the year and then outlast his team in the tournament.

He chooses wisely.

Why are Tennessee and Auburn fans the only ones mad in here? Hit a little too close to home?

Tennessee fans been melting about 2 months now. They claim it's an alter of theirs running around acting a fool, but they can't help themselves. It isn't just one. It's all of them.

Yeah I’m sure that’s it. The prince of the portal couldn’t have Tsheibwe because his game doesn’t translate to the NBA. Might be one the dumbest takes ive read on this site.

Gotta land studs like Trey Wade and Chris Lykes. No room for scrubs like Kessler, Eason and Tsheibwe.

Simply taking the best players on paper with no regard to fit on the roster is how you end up like Texas and underachieve with a loaded roster.

It's not like his takes were slouches either. Umude almost went to Kansas, Lykes was preseason first-team all-ACC and Toney averaged 14/6 in the ACC. Lykes didn't work out but a lot of the more highly regarded portal players from last year didn't really either.

Correct. Because I never said that those other guys aren't good, or even great, players. What I said is that he chooses his targets wisely.

These players you list may or may not fit his specific needs. In the end, he gets what he wants, obviously.

Trey Wade

Had 15/7 against the #1 overall seed and helped us get to the Elite 8

Yes. One of the best players to come out of the portal. That’s why the prince of the portal selected him.

He's damn good. He will play in the NBA. Whereas the national player of the year will return to college to try to get to the NBA later.

Or maybe JUST MAYBE he gets beat out for some portal guys. But probably not since he’s the prince of the portal.
