How good is Arch Manning?

Genuine question; never seen him play. Top of 2023 recruiting class, is he close to/like his uncles?

You will be surprised, all I will say besides lucky name is Manning.

The games against top competition they played this past season shows he still needs work
Now, Newman was probably outmanned talent wise but they still had several players on team that are going D1 this year and next year
Newman doesn't play the top teams so it's really hard to gauge
He is nowhere close to Peyton coming out of high school
I would rate him closer to Eli or even a tick below and Eli wasn't as high as Peyton either
You are getting a player that will bring that Manning pedigree and will thrive in the right system as he gets bigger and stronger
I don't see him going anywhere and starting day 1
He probably needs a redshirt and you need a team that doesn't need to rush him and can develop him a little bit before throwing him to the wolves
Do I think he's the type of QB that will carry a team - no, I don't
I think he will be more of a game manager

He’s pretty damn good but he’s benefiting from his name

Have seen him play twice, he's a 3-star recruit with a different last name. Every team with a pulse shuts him down, and he has had college-level receivers, a college-level tight end and two DI offensive linemen playing with him.

He has all the skills to be the next great Manning in the SEC.
Anyone saying he’s a 3 star or some other bs is in their feelings bc he isn’t considering their favorite school

Eli and Peyton's throwing ability. Archie's mobility. Mind of Peyton.

I I know Saban is after him pretty hard but he plays 1A ball so I don’t know if it’s level of competition or if he is just that good. That said I don’t think all of these college coaches would miss evaluate a kid at a position like QB.

Alabama just signed Ty Simpson. He played In Tennessee’s 2A classification.

I get that but the same goes for him as well. We will have to see if he was a big fish in a small pond or if he can get it done. A kid like Bryce who did it at the highest level of high school football I would think is more proven.

He plays 2A ball. In Newman’s 49-7 playoff loss, he went 6-for-17 for 49 yards. Earlier in the season, Newman lost 12-7 to St. Charles, the only other good team it played.

The fact that Saban is going to his basketball games(knowing damned well no one gives a shite about his jump shot) tells me a hell of a lot more than random TD posters.

Not only that, but LSU, UGA, Ole Miss, Texas, Clemson etc is after him too. That’s a lot of coaches at big programs after some 3 star just because of his last name

I think you get a lot of exaggerations because of the hype around him. People go expecting to see a mini Peyton and he’s simply not that, so they come away disappointed.
He will be interesting to watch, as he definitely needs some development but with his pedigree it’s worth a flyer for any major school.

Plays at a small school that plays bigger more talented teams. Watching him on tv playing against a team with a much better roster isn't going to tell you much. The tools are there. Everyone in the country wants him. That should tell you enough.

He's not even the best QB in Louisiana.
Max Preps 2021 Louisiana Player of the Year
2021 Louisiana Sportsline Class 5A Player of the Year
State Champion MVP

Zachary is a machine putting out QBs with stats. Keilon Brown in 2019 had 2800 yards, 31 TD passing and 1300 rushing yards with another 19 rushing TD in 13 games
Eli Holstein is losing his top 4 receivers though (1 going to ULL) this year so will be interesting to see how he does with a new crop there next year.

It's not easy some of the teams they play, but Arch has yet to step up in a big game the last 2 years for Newman. He has talent to work with on his offense too. Had a 4-star WR AJ Johnson there in 2020. Has a 2023 TE with a handful of P5 offers. Has a 2022 OLineman headed to LSU with his little brother Olineman being a stud (but a 2025 class stud).
Just my opinion but if you're the #1 overall player in the nation, especially at QB, you make things happen even when you're playing a better team and we've yet to really see that with Arch. He's been embarrassed the last 2 years in the playoffs against LCA. Didnt have a good game this past season against a team from FL. Had a few other bad games against the better teams Newman played as well the last 2 seasons. You just havent seen much development from him since his freshman year at Newman so far.
I think Arch has a lot of tools and obviously comes from the pedigree but if it wasn't for that name I doubt he's a Top 100 overall player at this point. HE hasn't performed like a 5-star at all.

This is simply not true. Most of Newman's games were against schools with smaller enrollments and arguably less talent.

Now do the ones that were on TV that everyone talks about.
