GHSA affiliated peeps: Could/should Sanford host the football state title games?

Got into this topic over the weekend: with the current set up at Center Parc being outdoors in December, has/should Sanford Stadium gotten/get some possible consideration as a host site for the GHSA state title games? Or even BDS at Tech if it’s insisted the games stay in Atlanta ?
Just curious if anyone knows if it’s been looked into and if it’s purely the access to interstates for south GA teams that makes Center Parc the preferred location with MBS too expensive?

Scratch Tech , there are high school stadiums better then that dumpster . The game will remain in Atlanta for logistical purposes central location . But should
Be back in the dome not a baseball hodge podge football field .

I’m not affiliated with the GHSA and I don’t think it’ll ever happen fwiw…
…BUT, this post makes me think of when the NCAA football games used to have you play your high school championship in Sanford because they didn’t know we used the Dome. Always thought it was a cool idea.
The year after that Macon Centreplex goal measurement debacle, they split the basketball state title games between Stegeman and McCamish and from what I heard, both were great atmospheres.

No. One of the smaller schools with field turf should.

MBS too expensive?

For real, that's fricked up.

Agreed... Or at a minimum, just honor whatever their contract with the GA Dome was.

I don’t disagree with the general premise but Center Parc isn’t loads better. Should also note that this hypothetical acknowledges that MBS is obviously the rightful location (Dome in December, prestige of an NFL stadium) if not for shortsighted frickery on the part of Blank, the city, and the GHSA collectively.

I guess where I’m at is Atlanta isn’t all that central to the rest of Georgia to begin with (Mercer’s stadium while way smaller would make more sense in that regard) nor is Athens any longer all that far outside the metro area.

I would not call ATL a central location for the entire state of Georgia. That would be Macon.

Should pick a county with two high end HS stadiums and field turf and go at it two games at a time.

That would be Mceachern ! Haven’t been to all stadiums in Georgia but is there a better stadium then that ?

Some similar, none better.

I am GHSA affiliated(football/baseball official). Let's put the blame where it squarely belongs, and it's not w/the latter two.
The blame lies SOLELY w/Arthur Blank. He is the one who wanted to charge the GHSA 600K per day to use MBS and WOULD not move off of that figure. Thus forcing the GHSA's hand and the move to GA.State. The city of Atlanta and the GHSA are completely innocent in this. This is all Arthur Blank's fault and he should be ashamed of himself. And the Atlanta media never called him on it, either.
And to answer the original question: I would be ok w/the finals at Sanford. But they belong at MBS. Indoors. Field Turf. Pro stadium.

I plan on calling girls flag football this fall, also.
I'm only getting in a couple of weeks of baseball this season. Having my meniscus scoped on my left knee on Feb.28th. About a 6 week recovery. Baseball starts on Feb.14th. So hardly any baseball for me.

She kinda remembers a guy named Edward. I haven't brought down her yearbook yet to confirm.

About 12ish years ago I worked in Gwinnett with some guys that did GHSA. 2 of em did football, one initials J.R. and another S.F. JR was a bit higher up I think, he actually was in the movie remember the titans as a ref and got a speaking part.
One guy D.S. was a baseball official but he did SEC/ACC at the time, not sure if he got his start earlier in GHSA or not.
