Correct me if I’m wrong but I think it was around 2001 for like a week or so.

They were ranked number one, and finished with a losing record in SEC play and were in danger of being the first team to ever be ranked number one during a season and miss the tournament.

They received an at-large bid as a ten seed and lost to Indiana in the first round.

We lost to fricking Carmelo in the championship.

Ended up a 9-Seed. In CBB history, it’s the worst seeding of a team that was ranked #1

Ever notice all these threads trying to get Alabama fans mad about basketball by screaming, "You suck!" to us?

And Bama fans are like:

Damn.

We'd have to go 2-9 in conference the rest of the regular season then get bounced in the 1st round of the SECT to do that.

Mark Gotfired could get the talent but his offense was a hot mess. Next year, Bama went under the radar (almost beating top ranked Mississippi State in a controversial game) and barely loses to Florida in the SEC tournament. Former walk-on Antoine Pettway was the starting point guard.

Guess what happened next? Bama survives Southern Illinois, upsets #1 seed Stanford and beats Syracuse, before losing to eventual NCAA champion UCONN in the Elite Eight.

Didn't y'all end up losing in the first round to that Stanford team led by Josh Childress? Best afro in sports history IMO

Meanwhile, Auburn went into the Sweet 16 where we took Carmelo Anthony and eventual Champ Syracuse to the final shot

Gottfried was pretty much guaranteed to lose every single road game no matter the level of competition

No. We beat Stanford in the 2nd round when we went to the elite 8.

And a perfectly fine thread until you showed up.

Also, wrong.

Auburn put up meaningless points as time expired.

Wrong again. They blocked the tying three as the game ended.

Any cool stuff you remember AU fans saying to UA fans on AL.com during that time?
