How do we see these going?

I’ve read that Zach Calzada is out during spring following shoulder surgery, leaving…

1) TJ Finley
2) Holden Geriner
3) Dee Davis
4) Robby Ashford

…as the options (in no specific order).

I said it earlier. Robby Ashford has a chance to win the QB competition in the future. Dee Davis wasn’t even given a chance last year, and it was and is apparent TJ Finley wasn’t/isn’t the answer. Holden Geriner also has a chance. He’s young, and a guy that fits Bryan Harsin’s offense. I expect Dee Davis to transfer at some point, like others. But I just wouldn’t count out Robby Ashford going forward.

Let me clarify. Zach Calzada won’t be fully healthy during spring. He will likely get some work, but not near as much as a player typically would.

It'll be between Ashford and Calzada. I assume Harsin will try to split the reps early to figure out what he has

So after spring u think it will be ?

Calzada
Ashford
Geriner

I just don’t Ashford being polished enough to be 2nd QB. And I don’t see him being totally in the mold of Harsin.

now I will say this it could be Austin Davis job to groom Ashford based on a Russell Wilson plan.

If Davis and Finley are processed Harsin has to bring in a transfer after spring that is a more experienced at QB.

Davis hasn’t played a down for a reason and Finley clearly isn’t SEC caliber. We may still be fishing for another QB

1) Potato
2) Holden Geriner
3) Midget
4) Robby Ashford

Y’all keep saying we are crowded at QB. We aren’t. Once Calzada comes back, we will have (3) QBs just like every other team.

My money is on Calzada to be the starter game one

I’d be surprised if it’s anyone but Calzada

I have no idea what's going on. My gut instinct is that Calzada was brought in to start, Davis is gone, and it's expected Finley will get beaten out by Calzada and perhaps Ashford/Holden.

Ashford was brought in as a dynamic replacement for Davis and because he's a local kid with some upside that needed a landing spot. I don't really see how he fits in Harsin's offense but the size profile fits better.

While they'd never admit it, I'd guess the coaches feel good about Calzada as a solid starter but want a robust QB competition with two upside guys to see if one of them can put Calzada's job in doubt or if he shows glaring weaknesses.

Neither Calzada nor Ashford excite me, but if things shake out somewhat like the above it's interesting for Auburn. Let's say Calzada wins the job and looks like a solid if not elite SEC starter. And let's say Holden looks good but not ready, and Ashford looks capable and with experience in a big time program, but obviously without playing experience but with change of pace upside that may be appreciated in a backup.

In that case you'd have a QB1 with SEC big game experience, perhaps backed up by an athlete in Ashford who offers the opposite of the 1-2 we had this year, with a high upside Holden coming up through the program.

IMO, if those things reasonably pan out, Harsin has completely overhauled the near term future of the position at Auburn with three guys he thinks he can use.*

*Of course, he thought he could use Finley. But admittedly Finley won us the GSU game and almost beat Alabama, so if he brought him in for cover and didn't have high ambitions for him, it wasn't a bust.

Yeah, that's the way I see it going too.
