"For me, in recruiting what really stuck out was how real he was," Young said at the College Football Playoff national championship game media day in Indianapolis on Saturday.
quote:

"Some coaches make you promises in recruiting," said Young, a sophomore who last month became the first Alabama quarterback to win the Heisman Trophy.

quote:

"When you start to hear those promises, it starts to become a little bit of a red flag, hearing a coach promise you this or that when you’ve heard it might not be like that when you get there."

quote:

"Coach Saban was always direct with me. He never promised me anything," Young said, except for one thing. "He only promised me opportunities to compete. He told me from the jump in recruiting that this wasn’t a place for everyone and exactly the type of player and person that he was looking for and will thrive in this organization. And that was the player and person that I strive to be."

Lol. Kid was given hundreds of thousand illegally under the table.

Sucks for y’all that USC can do it legally now too. The West Coast QB pipeline is closed.

Kids make commitments.... what's the difference. Because at times, both sides are full of it.

Are we ever going to move on from this? We same the same sh*t every time.

Look, yes, we paid him. You paid a lot of your guys. Every school paid every high-rated recruit. And guess what?

Nobody cares anymore.

That $1 million NIL deal didn't hurt either.

Odd for a supposed basketball school to be worried about Bama football recruting.

'commitments' - Something coming from an LSU fan. I didn't think many of the programs players know anything about the word, though this is hardly an LSU problem.

Regardless, this is about the coach. Remember when Kyler Murray was an Aggie. Father made accusations for some of the promises, now USFL coach Kevin Sumlin made.

And we hear of promises made to recruits by Joey Freshwater all the way over here in Birmingham.

These comments and threads are dumb. The dude would start at most schools immediately without having to sit out in 2020. Coaches weren't making promises. They knew their starter was shite and Bryce Young would be the dude.

Which is why A&M just won . Now that you can openly pay players LSU and Bama are in trouble . Sorry it’s just the truth. I know Bama thinks they are this and that but you don’t have the alumni numbers or alumni money to compete with the schools that’s have such large enrollments

Wrong, Bubba. People DO care about dirty programs, whether you get away with it or not.

I was listening to a Mark Stoops interview and he said he doesn't promise playing time just opportunity to compete and the rest is up to you.

I think that approach works better than promising immediate starting time. Which I'm sure happens alot.

If you really believe this, then what's Auburn's problem, no money? Saying Bama buys it's players is just a way of rationalizing your team's lousy recruiting.
