Who’d have thought that in July?

Everyone he’s ever coached under has been very complimentary of him, his father was a legend…I’m thinking lots of people knew he was a good coach.

He's done a remarkable job. Good for South Carolina.

No one really knows until game day, but his dad was a great CEO and that's the bloodline that makes it work. A lot of people are not born leaders and will never figure out how to manage and supervise people. It's not about paper hanging, or about crunching the numbers but having the gift and know-how on how to manage PEOPLE. There is an art to getting everyone on the same page and motivated. Teams are spending millions to roll the dice on the next great thing. So far for SC, so good.

I could see him brings USC back to spurrier levels of success.

He learned from one of the best.

One doesn’t have to be born to lead. It can be taught, cultivated, replicated.
Some are born to lead, but if they don’t work at it they will fall short as well.

I thought we were a 2-win team this year. We had a weak schedule, so I will be cautiously optimistic heading into next year with Rattler as QB.

He definitely exceeded expectations. But so did muschamp in year one so let's see if he can build off of it.

Sure you can, to a degree. You can also teach almost anyone how to play the piano, and he can practice every day of his life, he ain't never going to be Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
You can teach and develop people skills till the cows come home, but that will never make you Nick Saban.

Everyone in the state of Oklahoma. I for one would have loved Shane as the new OU HC.

You don’t have to be Mozart to be good at playing piano though and you don’t have to be saban to be a good football coach

To be the best of the best at what they do, it has to be a gift. In the DNA. It's on a different level. When those prodigies develop through life it becomes something special.

There were quite a few people in Beamers corner. Unfortunately, the national media just looked at it as “he’s never been a coordinator and therefore he’s not ready to be a coach”. It was a lazy take. USC is a tough place to coach as it’s in a small state with 2 major programs. It’s also surrounded by perennial SEC powerhouses. USC needed to hire a coach with a fresh take rather than trying to beat UGA et al at their own game. That was never going to work and Muschamp failed spectacularly at it.
