Pound for pound, Georgia has the best quality of athletes, in all sports, in the country.

Per participant is a much better metric.

But who really cares about either?
Total numbers are all that really matter anyway.

As far as state lines go, LA, MS, AL, GA, North Florida don’t really mean much. You can be in one state and be closer to the school in another.

I kind of see this region as it’s own “State” as far as football, fandom, loyalty, recruiting, etc.

Doesn't Florida count IMG?

Damn it you Georgia fans are dumb. The first one can not read or do basic math; the second shows up to argue that the way to do it is per capita, which is exactly what I posted.

Considering the retiree population, Florida is very impressive as always.

Florida has been leading this list for years now.

But internet fans have been telling us for years that Texas players are soft.

Is there a better option than the NFL league for professional football?

I posted the wrong AJC link that actually had per participant numbers.Which still is a far better metric.

Bigger point, why does either matter when the total number is all that matters?

Florida has a zillion retirees that move from other states. What sense does that make it per capita
calculations anyway?

It doesn’t really matter. But per capita, or per participant as you keep arguing (they are the same), is a better measure of average level of player in a given state. The same reason that rivals breaks it down by state and by school. If you really want to go down the “what does it matter road”, what does college football really matter in the whole scheme of things?

What? Total numbers are what matters. If "Per capita" somehow makes you feel better about your state,go ahead and beat you chest.

Feel better now?

No, I feel worse. Worse about the whole human species. Good luck in football. Georgia is the greatest. They will never lose a game.

Never once said or implied that.

Alabama,Louisiana,Georgia and Florida all produce very good players but please forgive me if I hurt your feelings and put you on downward spiral.

Yet UGA can’t seem to make good use of the talent and produce Championship teams

Why is the SEC so good at football? I guess we will never know.

Per capita is a bad way to do that, though.

It should be by percentage of kids that play football.

I don't know how much that would change anything, but I would think it would help Florida for one. They have a huge population of retired people....people moving into the state. None of which will probably ever play high school football.
