He's talking about how we didn't raise enough money for the highest end option for the south end zone. I forgot what It looked like exactly, but I remember it looking a lot better.

Correction - Aggie backers have just as much money as stronghorns and are much more committed.

Also have enough business sense not to broadcast salaries.

I’ll tell you a university that will definitely benefit from the new system: U of Houston.
Fertitta LIVES for Coog football.
He’s done everything in his power to put UH sports on the map.
He must be salivating right now.

Foundations and other “schemes” that pay players solely because of the school they play for are almost completely against the spirit of the NIL rules. I’ve seen BYU I think put something similar out there, and of course Texas. Personally I would not at all be advertising setting up any kind of program that paid players solely because they are playing for the school, and I certainly wouldn’t be projecting out before the fact in public as an inducement. It’s more likely to eventually be clarified to be against the rules, IMO.

NIL is supposed to allow the players to make money off of endorsements and appearances. Sure the line is blurry, but someone setting up something to give everybody who plays for a certain school a certain amount is almost certainly on the wrong side of the line. If there’s like some bbq company that wants to have all Texas offensive lineman appear in their commercials every year, that’s one thing, but anything that’s like a “Texas offensive lineman charity fund donation pool” is bullshite IMO.

100 to 200 million per year private NIL payroll. Oregon can with Nike.

I'm not even going to read this thread farther than this line. The salary cap for NFL teams is less than $200 million for a 53 man roster but you think a college is going to be handing out more than that for a 85 man roster every year

Also yes Nike is doing some NIL deals with some Oregon players...but you really think schools like Alabama,Texas, USC, Michigan, Florida, LSU, etc. are going to keep signing deals with Nike if their players don't get deals too?

I haven't heard anything along these figures anywhere. I do know the biggest players, namely Bijan, have made a lot of money through their own endorsements (I think he does MMA promotion, canes promotions, etc.)

For the record, I'm not really a huge fan of this NIL/free agency stuff either. It's probably going to rule what we love most about college football. But apparently them's the rules and that's how the game is played, now. So I can't be mad for Texas making an effort to play along. It's likely going to turn into adapt or get passed.

Roster management with a team full of star players with egos, plenty of excess cash and the ability to transfer penalty free

Ah but it is not penalty free. Their NIL payment will not transfer with them (I do not think) so they are not going to be able to transfer from the school they signed with.

Besides the only reason they would transfer is they are not very good. I see quite a few players who have NIL contracts losing them if and when they do not pan out.

Never saw any actual support posted for the $250K claim, but here it is. Horns With Heart is going to pay linemen $50K per year starting in August '22. They are just one of many such orgs setup for UT. As a businessman I don't see how any of this makes sense given that most people have no idea who these players are, especially the linemen. With that said, you would expect boards to want to see some form of ROI, unless these backers just have more money than good sense.

3 weeks ago, they finally kicked the homeless people out btw.

Do you really think 50k a year per offensive lineman is the end game?

One problem I see is a team filled with NIL payments, the "me first" aspect will come out. WR will demand the ball as will running backs. Both will blame the QB if "they" do not see the ball enough. QB will blame the OL, etc. etc. etc. because it will hurt their NIL payments. The locker room will go south, as the team self destructs.

These kids are going to have real awakening when they get to NFL and have to work for a living and take huge paycut.

So in College they don't have to work hard at football because they'll enter the NFL regardless. THEN when they're drafted they'll be clueless on what it actually takes to get it done.
