Posted on the Buzz facebook. He moved it up from April 2022.

Kind of glad. His garbled words were annoying. He is a legend but he has sounded drunk on air for a long time.

And yes, he probably was drunk on air.

How old is Tommy now? I still remember my dad listening to him on Magic 105 almost 30 years ago, he's definitely an Arkansas radio legend.

But the last time I listened to him on the Buzz he didn't sound like he was enjoying it or was his same old self, he seemed depressed and slow or something.

It's either the damage from the booze or the current effect of the booze.

I don’t necessarily care for him but thought he was on the wagon a while now

I know he was on Magic 105 in 1981 or so...and probably well before then. That's a long DJ career.

He has a health issue that is making him sound like that. Wasn’t a stroke but something else. I was told last week he was moving up retirement. A legend of Arkansas radio.

Hasn’t he been sober for a long time?

If you were a teen in the 90’s in Central Arkansas Tommy Smith raised you in the ways of women. Not the good ways either but he made Magic 105. Last year Danny Joe, Sharpe, and Tom Wood did a Facebook live and just told stories from those days and it was great.

John Daily’s wife beating up a stripper at the Make A Wish golf tournament at Pine Valley is one of the funniest stories ever.

LINK

That is his announcement.

He has Myasthenia Gravis. Its a pretty debilitating neurological disease that effects everyone differently, but the biggest negative effect is on speech and extremity movement. Its sad that for a radio guy, he gets a disease that mostly affects speech.

He has been, 10+ years since his on air incident back in 2009 or so. However earlier this summer he had a relapse and started drinking again. He talked about it on air, said he had been bothered by the death of a friend and decided to drink a beer. One led to two which led to three...a couple of weeks later he was drinking regularly again. He went back to the Betty Ford clinic and has been sober since.

I have to respect the hell out of a guy that deals with a problem like that in the public eye then just admits it and seeks help and lives it out in front of everyone. We all have problems, and its nice to see someone admit their faults and seek help for them. Its a reminder that we are all human but can still overcome our mistakes.

Well that does suck. The show will definitely be different without him.

i dont know anyone under 50 with a 3 digit IQ that enjoys that show anyway

its truly the most pointless, boomer heavy dialogue you could possibly put on the radio.

those guys LOVE talking about random shite from 1971

Hey to each their own. It’s 10% sports talk and 90% bull crap but it’s usually pretty funny. And it’s better than most of the other morning shows out there. The other one I frequent is the Corey and Patrick Show on The Edge. I don’t live in NWA so I can’t listen to any of those shows which are more true sports talk
