Stepping down at Presbyterian to pursue other football opportunities.

Wonder if he said screw the whole no scholarship thing or a high school somehere made him an offer he couldn't refuse... Or Presbyterian simply just pulled the plug on the experiment.

quote:

Presbyterian College’s Kevin Kelley, the former high school coach who gained renown for his strict aversion to punting, announced his departure from the South Carolina school after one season via social media Saturday.

Kelley, who won nine state championships coaching at the high school level in Arkansas, was unable to replicate that success in the Football Championship Subdivision, going 2-9 in his first and only season at Presbyterian. The Blue Hose’s average margin of defeat in its eight Pioneer League losses was 27.5 points.

“I have decided to leave Presbyterian College to pursue other football interests,” he wrote. “I am proud that we were #1 in the Country in passing and #3 in the country in total offense at a school without scholarships and the 1st practice being only 4 weeks before the 1st game.”

Presbyterian, a Pioneer League school that does not provide scholarships to athletes, knew of Kelley’s successes and eccentricities when it hired him in May, looking to improve a program that had gone 16-46 since 2015.

It didn’t happen, however. Presbyterian ended the season on a nine-game losing streak that started with a 72-point loss to Campbell University, and ended with a 39-point defeat to St. Thomas. In 11 games, his team punted just 13 times.

I’m sure it was not having the best players with no scholarships. At least with Pulaski Academy he could offer scholarships.

He was interviewed on The Buzz around a month ago and I could tell his dauber was down in the dirt a bit. Definitely didn't exude his normal demeanor.

I had a feeling that was going to end in tears. A place like Presbyterian was not going to be a quick fix and for a guy like Kelley being the coach of the conference doormat was too bitter of a pill to swallow.

I suspect this may kill his dalliance with college football unless he gets an OC gig somewhere. You most certainly aren't going to hire him to do a major rebuild.

Yeah he truly believed he was the reason Pulaski won so much over the past 10-15 years. Maybe now it finally clicked for him that your not that groundbreaking and evolutionary, you just had the pick of the litter in the most populated area of the state. Xs and Os don’t mean shite if you don’t have the jimmies and joes

Pulaski Academy had more power 5 and G5 players than any Arkansas high school in the last 20 years.

Yeah that was my point. He never realized how “easy and groundbreaking” his system was when he got to play with more college level athletes than some entire districts in Arkansas combined

He knew full well about the no scholarship thing a year ago when he agreed to become the coach

And don't forget, he left Ren Hefley high and dry. Ren's got another year and came because of Kelley.

Kevin Kelley is nothing but another fake selfish version of Gus Malzahn

Yes he did.

He knew it all along. And he still drank in all the praise he got for being a fake little attention whore

Oh, poor little Kevin Kelley, the victim of taking a job that was a conference doormat, so he could get press clippings and gain more attention for himself

?? Why would he get an OC gig? Where? UA Monticello would be stupid to give him an OC gig

he's the same as 99 percent of the swelled head coaches who are able to recruit the best players in high school, and pretend they've done something

Most of them are private schools, some are public schools with hands greased/egos stroked to move it forward against other public schools

Look at Rush Propst and his ego - he should be beaten with a frying pan

I can think of about 10 just off the top of my head. Probably the most out of any Arkansas school except maybe Fayetteville.

As usual, your takes are straight from hogville or in this instance Fearless Friday, with all the cucks on those sites already making excuses for him on the "no scholarship" bullshite

none in his conference offer scholarships - he's on an equal playing field at Presbyterian and his attention whore shite got his arse kicked, plain and simple

Kevin Kelley Presbyterian stats he didn't praise himself for on Twitter:

- one of the worst defenses in the nation, because he's all about putting them in a bad position to risk his offense getting praise

- penalties - one of the worst teams in the nation on that

- 3rd down conversion percentage - 90th in the nation

- 4th down conversion percentage - even worse, 108th in the nation

- turnovers lost - dead last in the nation

- turnover margin - dead last in the nation

some analytics that Mr Analytics didn't tweet about
