Dennis Franchione did similar, although they had a postseason ban IIRC.

I agree, but ND's lack of being in a conference and having completed their regular season pushes the time table up a week. I cant imagine this hire being made if 1. ND was about to play in a conference championsip game with the CFP on the line, or 2. They were a lock for the CFP.
