The year both Gone With the Wind and the Wizard of Oz were released. WWII was kicking off and the first televised baseball game is broadcast on NBC.

When's the last time an OU or LSU degree was worth a shite?

The Spanish Civil war also ended that year.

And neither was actually the best movie released that year, but they both had the advantage of using the innovation of color film to contrast different parts of the stories they told.
Wuthering Heights is the true 1939 gem.

Seems crazy to think about but, no Aggie in the history of Aggies has ever watched A&M win a national championship in football on tv.

quote:So sad and so true. Aggies only consolation has been being able to watch OU get their doors kicked in, in humiliating fashion, in 3 of their 4 CFP appearances. Teams just coasting home their leads were so large, including giving up 63 to LSU, yes 63 to LSU, Clemson strangling them allowing 17, and Bama jumping out to an 28-0 pt lead, could have put up 70, then got bored and coasted on home. Their RB committed first degree assault on the OU DB who wanted to run away. He had to be reminded this was not flag football.

Sad to have to take solace in the humiliation of others but you get by any way you can.

It's been a fairly long time time since OU won the NC.
You'll come in the SEC just above Tennessee.
Behind Bama, Auburn, LSU, Florida and Texas. That's not too great.

While true the reality is if no HS recruit can remember seeing you win a Natty what does it matter? OU barely has any players on their roster that were alive the last time you won a Natty and certainly none that have any memory of it. Bill Clinton was still in office.
Better focus on how you are going to compete against legit competition every week instead of glorified G5 teams.

At least they won under Clinton and not FDR.
