Does A&M win the BCS in their first year if they are in the SEC East?

Go 11-1 in the east and beat bama at a neutral site. There were 5 teams in the SEC that would’ve beat Notre Dame that year.

Sumlin probably gets more time and Jimbo never goes there. Crazy how things can change.

You could argue the same has A&M stayed in Big 12.

But had A&M stayed Big 12, Sherman probably gets retained, Sumlin never gets hired in the first place, and Johnny would have ridden the bench and probably transferred out.

Too many what ifs to ever really have these discussions. Too many little things would have been different that would have changed everything.

What happened happened. 2012 was a fun year. Glad we joined SEC and the SECW.

2012 was a magical season for Aggie. 3rd in the west. I’m sure there’s a t shirt for sale for that historic season!

UT is in the playoff on the eve of them joining the SEC. The continued A&M decline is about to accelerate

Georgia was pretty decent that year, so there's no assuming we beat them in division play, might just trade the LSU loss that year for Georgia which still would put us out of the championship game.

But looking back at the final AP poll, I think any of the 1-6 teams would've easily beaten ND that year. #2 Oregon, #3 Ohio State (bowl ban at the time), #5 Georgia, and I do think #6 A&M wouldve too. ND got in that year just because of their name.

No, there were 6. UF, UGa, USC were all rock-solid from the east, and each beat each other. The West was a dogfight between aTm, Alabama, and LSU, where each beat each other.

Any of those vs Notre Dame, and it's a natty.

Was there a hotter team in college football at the end of 2012? No.

Aggie could have easily finished 3rd in the East that year anyway. South Carolina and Georgia likely beat them that year. Georgia was a play away from reaching BCS Title game.

Stanford was coming off 7 straight wins including it's last four against four teams in the top 20 - including No. 1 Oregon.

That team did lose to Will Muschamp at home so there's no guarantee they would've beaten both UGA and SCar.

To prove that we learned absolutely nothing, we did, as well.
