Some of these are wildly off. How has your opinion changed?

1. Jayden Daniels (+1)
2. Jaxson Dart (+6)
3. Connor Weigman (+6)
4. Graham Mertz (+10)
5. Spencer Rattler (-)
6. KJ Jefferson (-5)
7. Brady Cook (+5)
8. Carson Beck (-2)
9. Will Rogers (-2)
10. Devin Leary (-7)
11. Joe Milton (-7)
12. Jalen Milroe (-2)
13. Payton Thorne (-3)
14. AJ Swann (-1)

Mertz has been very good, but I'd put Rattler ahead of him.

I struggled with that one, but Rattler cost his team in the 2nd half of Georgia and Mertz has not done that all year.

I said Dart should be 4 or 5 on the list and got downvoted to oblivion. Pretty normal for tSECrant.

Mertz has had better O-line protection for the most part (against Utah it was bad, but UF lost that game on many different fronts. He did reasonably well in that game).

I think Mertz is a solid qb, but I don't think he could put an offense on his back and win a game singlehandedly. I think Rattler can, so even if he may cost them a game or two, he also could win one. Whereas Mertz is more efficient and protects the ball better. Mertz also gets tons of help from Etienne and Johnson being serious threats.

AJ Swann really isn't a bad QB but he has absolutely no one else around him so he has to do it all himself and he presses. I'd have him above Thorne and Rogers based on season to date. Rogers is completely out of his element in the Barbay offense.

As much as I hate to say it, I think Weigman is a very good QB.

If any list has ANYONE listed lower than Will Rogers it is a lie…I dont care if he’s passed for 37,000 miles…he is now showing just how good Mike Leach really was.

Not just that but also the extreme change in philosophy. I get a new coach is going to have their way of wanting to do things but for the life of me I can’t understand why you’d take a team full of players recruited and taught specifically to play a unique style of football and then completely throw that entire way of doing things in the trash can without expecting it to be a dumpster fire.

Bring in an OC that worked with Leach at some point and have year 1 be 80% the Leach way 20% your changes. Then year 2 make it 60-40 and so on.

I’m not understanding why Mertz is ranked so much higher than someone like Beck in your list.

Beck has more yards, is right behind Mertz in the completion percentage, higher yards per attempt, same TD and same INT, better QBR.

Leary is getting better each game.

Competition. Mertz has played two ranked teams yet their numbers are very comparable.

First half Carson Beck #9
Second half Carson Beck #5

It’s like we have 2 quarterbacks.

Im happy with Cooks play, a lot of room to improve, but looks better than last year. Hell, if we had this Brady last team we would have won 9 maybe even 10 games.

Mertz was likely low due to being an unknown.. but is now surprising people.

There was VERY little to be critical of before the knee sprain limited his mobility. Dude was straight dealing against the B12 champs. Started to settle in again after the 3rd quarter when he had to.

I knew he was grossly underrated when I initially saw the list.

Leary will continue to improve IMO. He looked good this last game (even though his center did him no favors) but he definitely had rust he had to shake off at the start of the season. He's looked a lot more comfortable the last couple of quarters.

The sample size is too small this year to really say for sure.

But if I were a coach and had to choose between Mertz and Beck, I'd probably pick Mertz due to his experience. Beck might end up better down the road but is too inexperienced to trust right now.
