Anybody think Mertz has a decent year for Florida?

I'm not expecting much but Daniels for LSU and Hooker for Tenn managed to do a complete 180.

I’ve got family in Wisc they said he was mediocre at best his entire career there. I think you guys will need some good football fortune to stay relevant this year.

Hit 60% at Wisc throwing to guys who went undrafted, I think he'll turn his career around this season

Eh
Does Napier have it in him to develop Mertz to another level?
Didn't look promising with Richardson, and he went early in the top 5 of the NFL Draft.

To be fair, Wisconsin did him zero favors with the fossil offense they ran. I-formation - run, run, pass. Napier’s RPO style should benefit him more

There is only one direction this thread will go in on this board.
There are plenty of points in Mertz game that are worth noting as deficient and bad, but a nuanced view of his potential is not something the posters here are capable of.

I guess we’ll see but this reeks like when UGA fans tried to convince themselves we could look forward to Greyson Lambert being our QB
Wisconsin fans were pretty happy to see him transfer.

Florida went 6-7 with the #4 overall draft pick at QB last year. Can’t see this guy being much better.
ETA: with a loss to Vanderbilt

Because he did a standing back flip at the combine, not because he lit up the SEC

Says it all.
Other than Wilson, who have they had succeed at QB in their schools history?

Game manager and that's fine. Austin Appleby type guy. We have a great line and great backs, but QB will be meh and WRs will be young.
Hell do better than expected but not a good year by SEC QB standards

I remember Burrow being very unimpressive before 19, which in itself shows coaching and supporting cast can change a QB

Went #4 strictly off measurables and “potential.” He definitely didn’t get drafted high due to performance. Don’t use the NFL front office arrogance to gaslight Florida fans and act like they couldn’t win with a good QB. He fricking sucked at Florida

He was not very impressive to be honest. Could always surprise though.
