Why are people bothered with burning Willis' redshirt?

Teams everywhere START true freshman QBs. He needed the reps, in case Stidham goes down. And we have Gatewood coming in next year and probably Nix the next. Redshirts are kind of dumb these days anyway. You think if Willis tore it up his second and third year, he'd be back for his senior year? Nope

I don't see much of an alternative. If you don't get Willis reps, we have walk-on Adams or Ryan Davis...

There's the key. When White was still on the team, there was an argument for keeping the redshirt on Willis. Since he's #2 on the depth chart, you have to get him ready to go with live game reps.
