With Oklahoma and Texas joining the SEC in 2024 and the 12 team playoff also starting in 24. What's the standard for success in this new era? If a coach makes a 12-team playoff once every 4 years is that good enough?

I would be more than ok with that and everyone else should be as well.

8-9 wins yearly

That would be a fantastic achievement

I would probably lean more to 2 playoff appearances every 5 years. That would be about 4 per every 10 years. Some teams will make the playoff with 2-3 losses. Depending on strength of schedule

Id LIKE to see a playoff appearance every 3 yearswoth 12 teams but 4-5 is realistic. I guess it will depend how the schedule pans out with the 2 newbies.

We need to think about the $$ and let go of old traditions. Our 2 rivals are also are toughest competition.

With our resources and commitment to football, every three years we should see a CFP appearance. That’s basically like saying we should have a NY6 appearance every 3 years in the current format which I genuinely believe. Have to make good coaching hires

I would like to go 8-4 or better every season and 2-3 playoff chances a decade

10 wins a season. It’s definitely doable.

Piece of cake.

Make the playoffs every few years and win the SEC every few years as well

No reason why we can't jump on the opportunity now with an expanded SEC/CFP.

I hear ya but I think this staff will show us a way to get it done. There is a feeling about this staff. Oh and when I was a student with Dye as a coach...We had 10 win seasons almost every year...so it is doable.

Our rivals do it every single year. I think 1 out of 3 years is a natural expectation whether we meet it or not

9-10 win seasons every year with an SECCG appearance every 3 years and a play off appearance every 4

With no divisions in the SEC anymore once UT and Okie come aboard if you make the SEC title game you're also in the playoffs.

Expectation is 16-0. Reality is to be top 10 about 25% of the time.

frick your five losses. FIVE. that is unacceptable and never should be taken as the "Norm"

Big wtf moment there bud. I thought this board had gotten over the damn barfield years and wanted to elevate the program. Not accept being a middling team with a once and a while 10 win season.

We have also discussed Barfield who in reality was a good coach and like Gus was an innovated offensive mind for his time.
As most occurrences in Auburn history.....the BOT, Jordan and new President had different ideas as to who was going to be the coach. Sticky political.
