If you don’t think Riley would be a splash hire, I don’t know what to tell you. Every offensive skill player on Auburn’s roster would be stoked.

Hell, if we can beat bama, just hire Durkin. Make some changes on the O staff and keep Nix as OC. Our O doesn't resemble Freezes garbage. We are bowl eligible, and may be vying for a playoff spot, if the moron wasn't leading us for most of the year.

He most definitely would be a splash hire. Brian Kelly also made a splash at LSU. How did that work out? Splash doesn't equal success.

Was he though? I don’t remember thinking, oh man LSU killed it hiring Kelly! On the other hand, I don’t know anyone that wouldn’t say Auburn hadn’t done a major upgrade going from Freeze to Riley.

Jimbo was another big splash hire for A&M... how did that splash hire go?

Our guy is about to go to his 4th straight conference championship game in two different conferences and still he is not good enough for some on here.

You didn't think Brian Kelly was an upgrade over Ed Orgeron after Ed had gone 11-11 his last two years on campus?

Eddie O won a natty. Kelly blew every opportunity he had.

There is probably less than a 5% chance it happens anyway. But it wouldn’t surprise me seeing him coaching somewhere else sooner than later.

Knowing our history, we likely end up with Sunbelt Sumrall being led by Neil Brown. Why swing for the fences when we can pick… well… Troy…

That point of apathy? Yeah been there for years at this point. After the cupcake games are over have been nothing but disappointment for half a decade.

There are young football fans that have never seen us make a bowl. Much less have seen us at our highest. The damn sec shorts “auburn fan experience” video is real.

That is kind of the point. There are no sure-fire hires. Tom Herman was the hot mid-major name. He failed miserably. Napier, same thing. Hell, kiffin has schools slobbering all over him. He has warts.

What Sumrall has done is impressive. He isn't sure-fire though.

So did Coach O.

Gun to my head, I’m taking BK over those two clowns 100 times out of 100

The thought of getting Riley is definitely intriguing.

I'm on record as wanting Sumrall, but I'd still be interested in knowing who we'd be, "shocked," to know wanted the Auburn job. The names I've heard are all people I would expect to want, or be interested in, the job.

LSU's problem is the state of Louisiana recruiting is overrated, and LSU can't compete nationally. Saban isnt walking in that door, and Ed lucked into Joe. If you look at BK's record it is on par with Josh Heupal

He's definitely looking to get away from USC; between their NIL collective situation being wonky/bad and the fact he's not meeting their expectations I can't blame him for wanting to start somewhere new. I'd happily support him if the rumors are legit; it's not my money that would probably overpay for him.

Why do you consider Sumrall to be the apathy choice when he's almost certainly going to end up at one of Auburn, Ole Miss, or UF if Lane leaves for LSU?

I'm sure if you put a little effort into it you can come up with a nickname that actually fits the conference he'd be coming from.

We would have a much better chance with any of the top tier coaches. Granted, it would be harder to convince any of them to take the job but if LSU can offer Kiffin 90 million dollars then Auburn should be able to make a similar offer to Dan Lanning

Dan Lanning is not leaving Oregon. What makes you think he'd leave them for Auburn when their mega booster could easily match whatever amount we throw out at him? Do you not think Bama tried to make a market setting offer to him when Saban retired?

Stop with the Lanning pipe dream. Knight has told him he has unlimited NIL money. Nobody can compete with that. Lanning would be an imbecile leaving that cash cow.

Even if you could lure him away, I don't think you'd want to do it while being a Nike school. You get the coach but then you may be getting subpar equipment because Phil doesn't like you taking his coach.

Just saw this on Twitter.

Allie isn't an insider but does have a few connections and her fiance works for one of the LSU sites.

And now for the reality. Nike money has not kept one single coach at that school. Every last Oregon coach has left the program for other offers.. People have this misconception that Knight is just going to throw dump truck loads of money at a coach if other teams come calling, but that’s simply not the case.
