9-27 gives me 5-19 vibes. One of the reasons I don't like the idea of Durkin is the 5-14 conference record, at Maryland. I've had my fill of coaches with losing records. If you aren't good enough to be above .500, you shouldn't be on the shortlist for the Auburn job, I don't care what your previous resource situation was..

Maybe it's just me and a non-issue for most people, but why would anyone, especially an Arizona boy, want to deal with Pennsylvania winters when there are plenty of other jobs where he can make stupid good money?

I don't think he would. I think if he leaves he would prefer SEC. That said, PSU seems ready to throw the bank at a candidate. They have a lot of rich alumns and a lot of support in general to get it done.

As for LSU, I don't know if they have "officially" gone after him, but their fans seem to want him if no huge "splash" hire is possible. Go read the "coaching changes" board. (It's basically an LSU coaching changes board right now. Zero talk of AU, UF or Akry).

UF seems dead set on Kiffin. Basically going through the same shite we did a few years ago. If Kiffin falls through, then you could see all 3 schools going after Dilly.

I suspect there will be some interesting behind the scenes stories come out of this search.

That was inevitable the moment LSU fired Brian Kelly. Those guys are having a rough search cycle. If Auburn were pulling the shite LSU is, there'd be a 100 page, stickied, thread on tRant excoriating our school.

Maybe so, maybe not, but Jimbo with a Heisman QB keeps popping up in my head.

*(But not to say enabler of anything for a win.)

At least Franklin can't lose.

Except in important games. At Penn State he was 4-21 against Top 10 opponents.

I do believe Student22 is a female and very well connected. They were money back doing the ATPB days

He beat playoff teams Boise and SMU last year. Beggars can't be choosers

I'm afraid many are sleeping on Franklin. 2 nine win seasons at Vandy 6 or 7 10 win seasons at Penn State.

I see a lot of people complaining about him not winning big games but keep in mind he was stringing together those 10 win seasons when the Big10 was pretty damn good. Michigan Ohio State Minnesota hell Michigan State and Iowa were good.

He's a homerun hire IMO excellent recruiter, puts a ton of talent into the NFL, and has a big coaching tree.

Likely headed to UF or LSU and you are not going to want to play those teams.

I don't GAF if he can't beat UGA every year. I'd take a decade of 10 win seasons in heartbeat to put this shitshow back on track.

Are we really that desperate? If Penn State doesn't want him, then how is he good enough for Auburn?

Everything I've been reading seems to point to Franklin going to the ACC. He is supposedly at the top of VATech's want list, and something I read this morning says he is waiting to see if the FSU job opens up.

I'm sure he is. They're going to have to wait on Arkansas, UF, and LSU.

Saban and the rest of the coaches just barely stopped short of calling Penn State retarded for firing Franklin. Penn State's coaching will more than likely get downgraded and that will cost a pile of money

Smurphy do you have sauces? The idea of DJD staying on as DC under Sumrall just seems very very unlikely to me.

I’ve been led to believe there have been talks between the camps that make it more likely. I didn’t think it was possible a week ago.

Pretty sure they're going to regress. Michigan won't be down forever. I have no idea who they "thought" they could get that would be better than Franklin.

Penn State could have finished with 9 wins including a double OT loss to Oregon on the road a 1 point loss to Iowa on the road and a 3 point loss to #2 Indiana.

They are idiots

They also lost to UCLA and Northwestern

So what I'm hearing you say is that they are "close". Hard pass.

Obviously, they’re all dreaming about leading Auburn and can’t concentrate.
