That'd be one of those hires I'd have to talk myself into liking fr.

Could be worse. Sumrall's freshness would bring the whole fanbase in.

There's a post on the corner about Jboy being on a radio show saying Sumrall HC, Neal Brown OC and Durkin DC

I have no doubt this has been tossed around by certain boosters and if Jay Jacobs was still AD this would almost be certainty (because...Troy).

Durkin would leave after 1 year and we'd be screwed.

Stand strong John Cohen!

There's some chatter that Cohen isn't high on Sumrall and it was more a interview he was forced into by the PTB and his top two are Lea and Franklin. Pretty sure JF is the frontrunner at VT, Arkansas also thinks he's the frontrunner for theirs. Apparently Sumrall wants NB and that's a condition of his. IDK about Lea.

ETA: Sumrall has apparently given Cohen a EOW deadline because he has written offers from other schools and needs to make a decision ASAP and wants to start working on roster retention

When Cohen said he was looking for a guy, with an edge, did this name pop up on anybody's radar? I have no idea what the guy is like, but he certainly never struck me as having an edge..

According to Student22 of 247 he punched Tuberville back in 2010.

Clark Lea would be like throwing a wet blanket on our fan base. It would be a very tone deaf hire. Would be extremely disappointing, extremely.

Very plausible. If anyone is worth an outright gamble it's Lea.

A definite reason why Sumrall sucks as a candidate is because his own personal staff pool is severely limited (on paper, who he has worked with).

Not up to Auburn standards at all.

IDK. His defense is fantastic and you have to give him credit for picking DP

Why is Lea worth a gamble? The guy was terrible, like awful before Pavia. And with Pavia he’s setting the world on fire with scorching 15-8 record.

I hope this guy is not hired. It would be incredibly deflating for a large majority of the fan base imo.

to be fair, Tubs has always been punchable

Riley is a TxTech alum and protege of Mike Leach, and he has publicly stated how much he hated what Tubs did to the Red Raiders program

wonder if that might play into whether or not he would be interested in the AU job

Horrible picks for Auburn

both are underwhelming if they were to be hired.
He really needs to do a background check.

Franklin - Thin Skin & can't win the big games if not then why did Pedo U fire him? Look at his record there.

Lea - As someone else mentioned.9-29 in conference, 24-35 overall. So this is his first HC position.

If the two above are my only choices then I would rather go to JMU and get Chesney. He has them rolling and had to rebuild as Cignetti took 9 starters with him along with the portal.
