Lincoln Riley
When Cohen said he was looking for a guy, with an edge, did this name pop up on anybody's radar? I have no idea what the guy is like, but he certainly never struck me as having an edge..

3 of the top 10 teams in the CFP have gone internally for their HC hires.
Of those 3 internal HC hires, how many were previously fired as a HC and had a losing record?

He hasn't been amazing at USC and I don't think that either party (him or USC) is particularly sold on his future at USC.
He is looking for a parachute and a landing spot. Like I mentioned yesterday he is catching some heat from some prominent USC alums.
Some believe that he reached out and Cohen talked to him this past weekend. And those same people believe it went really well.
Nothing final or set in stone. Just a feeler or where do you/we stand.
I believe that Riley is feeling the waters and with the right situation he bails from USC. He is reading the tea leaves.

I recently watched multiple interviews with Lane Kiffen on SEC Network in which he discussed the success he’s had the last two season with his QB room. I was struck by something he said regarding the importance of in-game communication with his QBs and why it has been important to their development.
There’s that word again …. communication.
Kiffen’s ability to headset communicate real-time in the seconds just prior to the snap has been a game changer for his qb’s (Dart, Simmons, Chambliss) in keeping them “calm and confident.”
The key is getting into formation early, before the headset cutoff (15 sec on play clock) Seems like a basic thing, but not every coach is able to pull it off successfully because …. not every HC is the offensive play caller.

Maybe he meant an offensive mindset edge with Riley?

You know Hugh didn't utter a word to them boys.
Yet another example of how he was behind the curve.

Yea, Im way more of a rocker myself but I have to admit, people like Kenny,Zac Brown and others have done a good job with some of the coastal music

I think it was more of an unintentional jab at Freeze. Cohen just wants someone with a pulse as we all do! Freeze was vocally and visually checked out for whatever reason.

try growing up in TN less than ~1.5 hours from Nashville. All we had as far as Radio stations was country or AM talk. One Oldies type station & maybe get some signals out of Huntsville, Al but I didn't like their soft rock stations

Everyone has stupid reasons to lie and deceive so cannot trust anyone but supposedly a friend of an owner of a restaurant in Auburn related to Auburn sports is saying this.

Would be an interesting combination for sure. I think people could get behind that.

What about the make a splash hire?

Durkin aint working for Summral. Summral would bring his whole Troy or Tulane staff and he would rather have it that way because if Summral loses a few games people are going to start chirping to promote Durkin. Just like what happened at Arkansas with Pittman / Petrino

This is true. I hope I am wrong.
I do not see Durkin knowing either way right now anyways so I dont know why anybody else would already know. Durkin should be going into the Bama game thinking he is still vying for the job.
