Numerous people have reported that Cohen knew Golesh was a lock to say yes from early in the process.
Sumrall was not Cohen's favorite - but sure, he would have gone along with the Troy area crew.
Florida saves the day by going all in for Sumrall and Sumrall complies wonderfully! Even though the UF people hate him.
I'm sure it would have been an agonizing decision if DJ would have won.
But he didn't and that opened the door for Golesh.
Given Ole Miss was in limbo and Scott Stricklin was lusting after Sumrall,
Golesh would probably always be available. So why in the world would you do anything before the Iron Bowl and at minimum create a giant distraction?
This in no way implies that Golesh was always Cohen's absolute #1 choice. But he was always more than acceptable. The guy just blows some other candidates away as far as intelligence.

it does seem like Sumrall was tailor-made for AU and Golesh was a great fit for UF
defensive-minded good ol country boy with AU connections vs up-tempo offensive-minded yankee who started his career at tOSU and Iowa St
i personally am very happy how it worked out

Cohen early on in the search the head coach said he wanted someone with EDGE, and who wore around a hat with EDGE a lot, Golesh. That was my indicator who Cohen wanted

Golesh isn’t going to wait long. Impressed me as someone who isn’t going to give you a lot of time to make a decision.

The secret moles to monitor coaches and Sumrall believing it is something Mike G has been peddling because he wanted Durkin. Mike G is already starting to bitch about Golesh because he doesn’t want any of our players to get their feelings hurt when Golesh brings in a 3000 yard passing/1000 yard rushing QB from USF.

I 100% believe Kiffin was feeding that info to Sumerall as well, based on some of his Florida press conference answers.
But yea, Mike G makes some absurd opinions sometimes when it comes to coddling players and not hurting their feelings.

Should be fun to watch how things play out.
Both could easily be successful.
I just love the absolute accountability for one side of the ball. (and not getting Silverfielded with Nieal Brown).
I am sick and tired of the coordinator merry-go-round, mess at AU.
If the offense isn't productive, you just move on.

Did y’all see Sumrall’s press conference? It was terrible. He awkwardly mentioned Lane Kiffin.

Kiffin is absolutely a petty bitch. When he did not come here, I am sure he decided to frick us any way he could going forward.

The only people not blasting Kiffin are LSU people. NFL commentators telling parents Kiffin doesn't care about players

frick him. I used to pull for him but now after he set ole miss back 10 years with the way he handled all this I hope he's shown the door faster than BK was.
I have a feeling recruiting aint gonna be as easy as he thinks it is.

He made it too easy to recruit against him

Players are going to be dumb enough to believe Kiffin isn't still looking for a better job already.

I really don't care how it went down, I think we got the better Coach out of it. It's always possible I'm boogin' but I wasn't really that impressed with Sumrall's Presser.
If being a loud mouthed psycho guaranteed success, Boom would have won titles in Gainesville...

Kiffin bringing up Cosch O was odd

A poster on the corner who called the Golesh hire the night before says Durkin is staying. Pete Nakos commented that it was trending positively toward him staying as well.
I think Clemente and others have said he's been helping golesh with the recruiting class so anyway tifwiw. I know smuphy said it was trending toward him leaving but others are now saying it's trending toward him staying

Golesh told him he would take it but would not have anyone forced on him. Cohen abandoned his dreams of retention and keeping certain coaches and hired Golesh to save his arse and to keep the heat off of himself.
Do you still stand by this?

100%
I never said that Golesh refused to keep Durkin. He didnt want anyone forced on him. He was asking the same thing that Sumrall was asking for. The chance to sit down.and talk to him or you might say interview him before it was decided Durkin would.stay or go. Neither of them said they were against the possibility of maybe Durkin staying.
That is all either of them asked for. They did not want Cohen going ahead and making Durkin assistant head coach or whatever and signing him to a new contract/raise before they had the opportunity to talk to him. And that is what Cohen was doing. That is all they were asking for to see if they fit or if they thought that the situation would.work.

This is an assumption based on other people's assumptions. You had previously argued that "Cohen started feeling the pushback on Durkin and the overall bumbling of the search that he created" which, as we all know now, never happened.

How do you know it didn't happen?
Ok
You believe what you want to believe. Like I said I don't care.
