3 injured QBs in 2 seasons. Hard to win when that happens. I already explained that earlier in the thread.
Like I said I don't care if it's Durkin or not. I don't care who the coach is. I just want to win.

would you want Dabo?
Everyone knows Dabo now isn't the pre-NIL Dabo winning Championships with Trevor Lawrence and Deshaun Watson. That's like calling Chizik a good coach because of Cam. With CFB changing yearly with NIL, the farther back a coaches success was the less it will translate to now.
Short answer: Would I want him? NO. Would I rather have him than Durkin? Absolutely.

Durkin:
DC at Florida when Muschamp was fired.
DC at A&M when Jimbo was fired.
DC at Auburn when Freeze was fired.
This guy is supposed to have the secret sauce to erase years of losing culture at Auburn? How? Why?
It may not be his fault that those coaches got fired while he was on staff, but don't try to sell this as if this is Kirby Smart coming from Bama where all they did was dominate. Durkin has witnessed a LOT of losing football as a coach, and you have to seriously consider how that has shaped him.

Would you call his offense *gimmick*
No but I didn't consider Gus' offense a gimmick offense either. Just like I don't consider RPO base gimmick. They all have a foundation of what they are trying to build off of. If they stick to the foundational schemes and build out any style offense can be successful if they execute. This year we could't execute shite. That's lack of responsibility in coaching

I have read that if Golesh ends up at Auburn, he wants to take Joey Halzle with him
Posted on 11/30/25 at 12:25 am to DyeHardDylan
I don't think it would be a good career move for Joey to work under Golesh. He needs to work for someone that doesn't have their hands in the offense.

Durkin isnt the secret sauce. Auburn doesnt even have the roster to consider kicking the can down the road. We would need to have a 10 win roster to consider that.
If Durkin wants to be DC then all is well. He isn't great but he brings the pressure to appease me.

So in the ~9 years its been since he got fired at Maryland, no other AD has considered all of these excuses as to why his failure at Maryland was really just a big fluke, and made him their HC?
These excuses are easy to think up but clearly nobody in college football is convinced, otherwise he would have gotten another HC job by now. And really Cohen wasn't convinced either considering that he clearly wanted Sumrall over Durkin. So if Durkin even gets this job, it will be because he backed his way into it because we bungled our search.
Here is a quote from a poster on another board that is perfect: when you hire a coach that nobody else wants, you usually get results that nobody else wants.

Yeah, that would be a weird choice for Halzle to go from one play calling offensive head coach to another.

If he was as great as you think he is, why isn’t he being talked about for any of the open HC jobs available? If Schumann was such a great hire you would think that a smaller program such as Arkansas or Oklahoma State would at least consider interviewing him no??

Do you disagree with any facts i presented? The craze this year is snatching up G5 coaches. It is what it is. I don't know or understand why tbh.

Wow, so apparently we've made an agreement with our next coach.
Any guesses as to who it is?

I mean the safe money would be on Durkin given the timing, which to me is still wild.

Anyone have access to the on3 board? Wondering if they have any other info we don’t have.
