Come on this whole, he offered Durkin a job AND THEN talked to Sumrall is nonsense. And he certainly would not "force" coaches on a candidate for a new head coach.

And the Russians are not going to nuke us.....get out from underneath your desk.

By tomorrow we will have Sumrall as a head coach, Durkin as DC and a stud for OC, all our players stay put, we sign those commited, and we pick up a handful, including a big surprise or two, all while basking in a defeat of bamma.

We rolling baby.

Now you guys stop chopping my Buzz!

Yes it would never be that someone offered $8MM (or $10MM) and you offered $7MM (or $6MM).

Haha

Look, coaching search is the best kind of time on the board. Look how fast this thread has grown over the last day or two.

I love our posters here, passionate as hell and all love Auburn. I feel a little guilty trying to rile them up, but I can’t help it really. sorry gents.

These are all good people though and deserve a football program that is successful.

Why are we fixated on this guy? I think it’s pretty obvious that Cohen did very little if any real work with this coaching search and for that I’m not willing to accept the guy they simply rubber stamped as the guy.

And let me add I do not give a frick if his wife went to Auburn, he’s from this state or he coached down the road at Troy. I want the best man for the job and that starts by getting off your arse and holding a legitimate coaching search

I find coaching searches hilarious.

The same people that are screaming at Cohen for not doing whatever it takes to get Sumrall will be the first people bitching about his huge buyout after his first loss. Somehow never realizing that the two are connected

I have no idea what’s going on. Half the rumors that get floated are just smoke from agents doing their job. Wake me up when we hire somebody

Seems like the rumors yesterday went from smoke to wildfire pretty quickly.

Auburn people deserve to have a 10-15 year stretch of amazing football, if we're going to get sappy about the subject.

Yeah who knows what is what. It’s all a crapshoot in this industry. Agreed on some of your other stuff. It’s all part of the vicious cycle merry go round we are put on. Haha

I think it's safe to say that why we are all upset is pretty simple: we are tired of settling for coaches no one else wants, having shitty results that force us to fire the coach and then wash, rinse, and repeat. We can't seem to get out of our own way. Do you notice that no one else on the Rant seems particularly worried about our coaching search? They know what will happen. People used to fear our program: now we don't merit an afterthought.

Why is it so difficult for us to put competent people in charge that know how to do their job?

I’m not sure how this all plays out but if we end up with Durkin as HC when the music stops, and the PTB don’t fire Cohen, I’m checking out. We aren’t a serious program.

We are the only program to reach back into a pile of shite, pick up a turd, and think we can polish it. Freeze & Durkin, every other program in America sees unhireables, WTF does AU see?

No reason to keep dumping $ for season tickets, paying for a parking spot, paying for a tailgate, to watch this shitshow. One too many shite sandwiches to choke down.

Durkin is a decent DC, seems like a decent guy, hate to compare him to Freeze, but he’s not a serious HC candidate, just like Freeze.

Florida is about to have a riot because they hate the Sumerall hire. We’re about to riot because we’re not paying $10m a year for him.

Everybody wants a Nick Saban type hire everytime when there’s rarely a coach out there like that.

Chill out

Let’s be real for a minute. As a rival fan, would you want the guy Auburn is hot and heavy for given our recent 20 year track record of hiring bums? I’d be losing my shite if we were trying to steal a coach MS State or Kentucky was panting over

You want sappy, we deserve 4-6 NC’s, a 10 game winning streak vs Uga and Bama, and win the SEC 8-9 times in the next 15 years. I’m all for it.

We should flood Cohen with emails expressing our disdain for how this is going, and the 2 "candidates" we are down to

If so, I suspect it means we've moved on from Sumrall.
