Wow. I wonder if that has anything to do with our close games being against teams like Oklahoma, A&M, and Georgia and their close games being against Wake Forest and Duke?
You need to scale the talent my guy.
Georgia Tech's talent level is similar to Duke and probably Wake Forest as well.
Auburn's talent level is similar to A&M and Oklahoma, and probably even Georgia. You left out Missouri who we are definitely more talented than, and it was the same story there too.
Therefore it is the same thing.
You seem to be arguing as if Georgia Tech is fielding comparable talent to Auburn. Hopefully nobody needs to explain to you that they aren't.

Despite his issues, Freeze brought in the talent that has gotten us to within a TD of beating Top 5 and 10 teams. Another guy can easily lose the roster,
Do you honestly think the best players on our roster now will stick around for another year with Freeze? Perry Thompson might. Deuce is already out the door. Cam Coleman watches his NFL draft stock fall further with each game he plays at Auburn.
Outside of KLS and a few defense guys, Freeze has absolutely whiffed on bringing in portal talent. And whiffed bad at two of the most important positions on offense: QB and LT. Our roster is getting a downgrade after this season whether Freeze comes back or not.

Arguing that Freeze shouldn't be fired because he assembled talent that got within 'X' points of 'Y' team is so stupid its not even funny.
Kentucky is the worst team in the league and Stoops assembled talent that got within 3 points of Texas, and within 7 points of Ole Miss.
Arkansas is the second worst team in the league and Pittman assembled talent that got them within 3 points of A&M, within 3 points of Tennessee, and within 6 points of Ole Miss.
Even MSU beat Arizona State and "only" lost to Tennessee by 7 points, and Florida by 2 points.
Assembling talent is the bare minimum in the NIL and Transfer Portal era and has never been easier. It also means less than it ever has because "assembling talent" more or less simply relies on paying more money than everyone else. So what are we even giving Freeze credit for? Spending millions of dollars of someone else's money? The talent on this roster didn't come here because they believe in Freeze more than any other coach that was recruiting them.

Right. You’re getting close.
And most advanced statistics ratings show that Auburn is a better team:
FEI: Auburn #24, Georgia Tech #35
ESPN FPI: Auburn #23, Georgia Tech #26
KFORD: Auburn #23, Georgia Tech #30
So how is Georgia Tech 7-0 and ranked #7 in the country while Auburn is 3-4 and no where close to ranked….
… drumroll please…. The Schedule!
Which is my entire point. Some of these programs from the SEC who are going to finish anywhere from 5-7 to 7-5 would be in contention for a conference title and a playoff spot if they were playing in the ACC or Big 12. That’s a problem.
CFB needs to figure out how to make everyone’s schedules a bit more uniform.

Not with our shitty fans, probably not. But these guys signed on to a program when Auburn was going 5-7 and 6-7. Why wouldn’t they stick around if we go 7-5 and they are still getting paid?
I can supply far more evidence that Freeze is a top recruiter than you can to proclaim some mid-major coach is going to come in and do better.

Because he had excuses in his back pocket which he could still use at that time. Those do not exist anymore.
And where are you pulling 7 wins from LOL? Barring a complete turnaround you are looking at 6-wins as a realistic best case scenario again.
Year 1: 6-7 = "Its the first year and we have no talent. You are part of the group that will turn this around".
Year 2: 5-7 = "We have a QB problem and our talent is still young. Oh and I'm going to take over offensive play-calling and this will fix everything."
Year 3: 6-7 = *Crickets*
These kids can get paid anywhere. Most of them are also seeing their NFL stock DECLINE under Freeze, and this is where the real money is. There are lots of players and their families on this roster who bought into his BS and are rightfully feeling lied to. The fact that you seem to think that all of them are going to exhaust all of their NCAA eligibility on a perennial "actually next year it will be different" sob-story recruiting tactic from a chickenshit loser HC who keeps whining and pouting after every loss is absurd.
Someone like Cam Coleman believes that next season is his last season. He can go and get paid while actually winning something at Bama or Georgia or any number of programs which would be happy to make a spot for him.

Also - frick YOU for daring to call the fans "shitty". The fans are packing out the fricking stadium week after week to support a complete bullshite product on the field for the THIRD STRAIGHT SEASON. A fricking packed-out stadium for a Missouri game which everyone with a working brain (hint: not you) KNEW we would find a way to lose. AND YET THEY STILL SHOWED UP. AS THEY ALWAYS DO.
What an absolutely embarrassing statement. So-called fans who infinitely excuse loser-arse coaches who are being paid tens of millions of dollars to lie through their teeth week after week and dare to suggest that someone suggesting CHANGE is the "problem" are worth NOTHING.

I think he was talking more about the fan behavior on social media. It is toxic and players read it.

Because Hugh Freeze sucks and is a mental midget. When you sign on to come to AU you know the scale is different. I couldn't care less what advanced stats show.. when you are #23 that equates to being the 10th or 11th best team in the SEC. Being #35 and in the ACC (with ACC talent btw) that means you go to the playoff.
This is not news to anybody.
We aren't cycling through coaches to be the 11th best team in the SEC because that leads to 6-6 records and miserable seasons.

I personally don't want NIL and portal experience working under a limited budget. I want NIL practice and experience working at a big time program.
Obviously there would be differences are differences.
Not related to NIL or portal, but in reference to being connected to big time programs, Cignetti was OG with Saban's Alabama, and Cignetti himself credits this experience.
I don't want Kentucky, Troy, or Tulane experience not matter what feelings someone inspires. The type of experience matters, or at least history shows you can mitigate risk somewhat by leaning toward big time experience.

We don’t know what our final record will be. That’s kinda the entire point. We could be 3-8 or 8-4. We don’t know. But again 4 losses that all went down to the wire against Top 15 teams does not automatically equate to losses to Mercer and Kentucky. Why don’t we see where this thing lands before we make such a rash decision?

I think some of you people like shitting on Auburn more than y’all like winning.

Some of the greatest coaches started at places like Bowling Green, Kent St, Youngstown St, East Carolina, etc. The problem is identifying them.

Many of these people screaming the loudest right now were the ones who assured us that things could not get worse if we fired Gus.
Many are the ones who booed Bo Nix and chased him out the door… chanting, “We want TJ!” as they clamored for TJ Freaking Finley to play over a now NFL starter.
Now we have fans openly rooting for Arkansas this weekend on Twitter because we haven’t fired Freeze yet.
Yeah, I think all that is pretty shitty. And if you don’t, you’re in that group.

Just to be clear I was not pleased with the understanding of what Bo went through, but the coaches do not require the same understanding.
Coaches can be like Malzahn going to get Stidham when he sees the QB is lacking. They can learn to adapt and not be fixated on one way. They can be like Saban going from the I formation or the pistol to the spread. Yeah Auburn definitely got worse when they fired Gus but its not like Gus's tenure was pleasant. Auburn simply hired the wrong guy.

That is an understatement. And MANY Auburn fans tried to warn folks it could get way worse… but the loudest, angriest faction of our fanbase got their way. And now many of those same folks are trying to do it all over again… assuring us that things can’t get worse.
They can get much worse thigh I promise you.

But had stops along the way at Notre Dame, LSU, NFL (with Bill Belichick) and Alabama under Bear Bryant.
The odds favor those with big program experience for good reason.

Read this from Clark Leah. The hump is the hardest part which makes 789's argument about being "close" so weak.
