Let’s throw out the FFR argument: a group from Wisconsin is complaining about people 18 and over, under their own free will, not at a state sanctioned or funded function being baptized by choice? If they are trying to argue peer pressure to participate equated damages these fools will open the argument that the FED did the same via forced vaccine mandates …

You do know that John and Jesus were Jewish, right?

No, I had no idea.

It was a Jewish ceremony. Sorta of a pre-cleansing before the messiah came. Jesus a Jew saw good in it and participated because not on when on earth was he totally God but also totally human

Since what I was clearly referring to was MODERN DAY Judaism (you know... the faith in which Bruce participates?), please do point out to me these huge numbers of present-day Jewish temples that are performing baptisms. You sound very confident, so this should be easy for you.

That group is not suing Auburn, nor have they threatened to sue….they are all bark, no bite.
They sent a “warning” to Auburn which I’m sure received a lot of eye rolls. The Governor however responded and she should not have given this hack group that effort.

Well, I never asked him personally. But his social media over the years has contained A LOT of explicit pro-Israel support.

And if I’m wrong about that, so is the Jerusalem Post as well as many other media organizations in addition to the U.S. Holocaust Museum.

none

It's a Mikvah (ritual cleansing not baptism) and one of the central tenants of Hasidic, Orthodox, and Conservative Judaism.

Bruce is Jewish by ethnicity. His faith is Christian. So he’s a Jewish Christian. He’s not a messianic Jew that mixes Law and Grace

Great point Awestruck. Mikvah (what Christians call being baptized) was what John was as doing outside of the religious hierarchy. He came in the spirit of Elijah to come prior to the Messiah Jesus. To cleanse and restore the exterior body and soul for a re-birth.

Freedom of religion trumps freedom from religion

Freedom of religion means nothing without freedom from religion.

FFRF’s thing all boils down to informed/non-coerced consent. The worry is that stuff like this could be coercive by design, and that’s not OK.

i thought this too until i read the following:

Bruce on his faith

FTA:

quote:

At the end of the evening, as Pearl talked about his Jewish faith, he shared that his wife, Brandy, is a Christian. She prays for him to come to faith in Jesus because she loves him and “she knows what eternal life is for her and she wants it exactly that way for me.” She also finds richness in her faith in Jesus through learning more about the Holy Land and the Jewish festivals Jesus celebrated when He walked the earth, he noted.

Pearl said for him personally, his identity lies in his Jewish faith. He said he believes in the miracles of Jesus, but he holds to Judaism “because my people have been murdered for their faith” and because “that’s my father’s religion, that’s my grandfather’s religion, that’s how I was raised.”

Yep, this has been in the sports news since Bruce came to Auburn so I don’t know why so many people are confused by it.

They have most of the Alabama Government responding ....

Members of Alabama’s congressional delegation are showing their support for Auburn University after being criticized by an atheist group for holding a Christian event on campus.

The folks in Alabama’s statehouse wanting to shore up their Christian street cred is an uninteresting bit of trivia to me lol.

Yeah… let’s just force God out of everything. That’s what freedom of religion meant…. NOT!!

Meant that the government couldn’t impose religious views. Wasn’t meant to limit religious activities.

Did the school force anyone to attend? Partake?

I’d say climate change is a religion. I ain’t on here saying they can’t have a climate change summit. frick those dumbasses. I’d hope that any one that isn’t Christian for things that happened at Auburn would have the same feeling. But some no regulation and some want forced regulation.

I stand on the constitution in regards to freedom of religion. Weird tho it’s always the majority that is attacked. Being a majority Christian population of religious peoples.
