2006 I blame squarely on Tubs.

No way we should have lost to that miserable UGa team, at home, in a blowout.

Tubs blowing a few games a year was standard. I was in the stands for Reggie Ball.

Not just the IB, but over the course of the entire season. Stuff adds up. We could have rested KJ in games and let others carry the load,

Sandwiched between Georgia and Alabama we played some shite school and we only held maybe a TD lead at the half. It took 23 KJ carries just to stretch the lead out. That wasn’t great timing.

As for favoritism I see no evidence that it affected the RB position that season. Petway was supposed to have been a key cog. Kam Martin wasn’t worth a damn. Once Pettway left we had nobody.

ran KJ down to the nub

I absolutely love this ubiquitous Auburn Board narrative. Ironically, it probably comes from most of the same people who argue we didn't run Tank enough this year.

KJ had 1,391 rushing yards in 2017. That's good enough for 6th in a single season in Auburn history. He would also rank 6th in a single season at Alabama. He's 3rd in a single season in rushing touchdowns, and 5th in rushing touchdowns in his career.

This notion of "Running KJ into the ground in 2017" is merely people looking for someone to blame for how bad we sucked after he went down

Take out Hunter and Tank with an injury and behavioral issues for the other. That’s where 2017 was. Kam Marin… enough said. Be like trying to go an entire game with Worm

I never coached major ball, or any ball for that matter, but it seems to me that for the benefit of all involved, it would have been best to have Petway INVOLVED, someway, somehow.

If he doesn't respond to the head coach, find an assistant to get it through his head. Get another player. Find a way.

Maybe Gus did, maybe he didn't. IDK. I just think too many do the dog house thing or the highway, and damn the consequences.

Maybe it’s just me but I would rather Auburn men act like Auburn men then win at any cost.

Yes you can play up in the gray area recruiting and you can negative recruit. But as a leader of young men you can not let them control the culture. We had that in 2011 and 2012.

Gus recruited him. I get it, some men just can't be reached, but it sure does seem Gus had a string of RBs who were of the same mold.

That much money, you'd think he'd find a way to explain it to them? I probably ask too much.

Pettway fallout is still a mystery to me. I’m not really sure what happened there.

I tend to agree.

2017- yes, but we also kinda did it to ourselves. Gus ran KJ down to the nub, and it caught up with us. No Plan B or C, and look what happened. Lost to UCF to add insult to injury.

I love this board so much

"Gus ran KJ in the ground?

"Bobo wont give the ball to Tank enough"

Anything to fit the narrative

Same old shite. Wash/Rinse/Recycle

In 2017 you can watch the bama game and clearly see the play KJ hurts his shoulder on late in the game. It happens in football and it doomed that season.

Yup. I remember feeling a bit sick at the moment. We all want to beat Alabama and Georgia, but the truth is we probably will never have the depth they have in terms of backup talent. We need to match up well with our starters and have at least two real playmakers and then get lucky regarding injuries.

I am happy with the outcome of the SECCG. We probably helped Alabama, but if two teams from the SEC get in, I think that hastens going to 12 team playoff, which would it least give us a better shot and make the games after the regular season more fun.

MY dream scenario would have been 2 SEC teams, 1 G5 team and then ND. With no other power 5 conferences in the playoff, shite would change really fast.
