I agree.

For some reason, Gus/Rhett are enamored of a head-case rather than a tough-as-nails kid who will do whatever it takes, including sacrificing his body taking the big hit, to make the play.

IMO practicing what you need from your new QB *now* rather than demanding it from him out of the blue when we need it in the future is the smart thing to do.

But I guess "frick you Sean White we don't need you to win this game" is an alternate view.

Sounds like a rational evaluation of the opposing side of the argument.

quote:

Having JJ on the field on those plays added absolutely NOTHING. If you think the defense on those plays "considered" him (outside of a DB lined up wide with him, which would have happened with any other player lined up wide), you are delusional.

NOTHING about Jeremy Johnson lined up wide at WR made the SJSU defense "consider" a goddam thing. Why? Because he's not a threat at WR, he's not threat throwing the ball, and he's not a threat running the ball.

Sorry, but that's nonsense.

I think this is an area we can have a rational disagreement.

Sorry, but that's nonsense.

But not here.

Can you please explain what lining Jeremy Johnson up at WR makes the defense "consider" that is any more impactful than, say, lining up a WR at that position?

And if you tell me "the threat of his ability to pass the ball on a trick play" I'm going to laugh. Hard.

All I can say about the JJ at WR thing is cue the JJ pass from the WR spot vs Kentucky. It's coming 100%.

And will, of course, fail spectacularly.

Because that's high school shite. I can't believe I said that, but its fricking true.

Right, because JJ can't be a consistent passing threat, he isn't one at all. Sounds reasonable.

JJ lining up today wasn't nothing more than Gus pacifying his need to keep him involved. Like Tate said everyone including SJS knows he isn't a threat to run pass or catch

Yeah, outside of the fact that the throw hit the receiver right in the hands, it SUCKED.

It was a bad throw. Smith did a good job adjusting to it... but it doesn't matter if your adjust well or not if you drop it.

5. #1 on offense continues to play even though he dogs his effort at least 50% of the time. Gosh, why would anybody else try hard when it shows that trying your best means jack shite?

This one pisses me off the most. It is your final year before you go pro. Hustle your arse off on every snap. I would prefer to see him benched at this point if he is just going to phone it in.

I'm jealous. I watch other college teams on Saturdays, Iowa,

Iowa's been lost since they won the Orange Bowl in 2009. They won today because Wisconsin turned the ball over 5 times. So I guess there's still a chance for Gus to right this ship?

There's always a chance.

The fact that I haven't seen a goddam thing to CONVINCE me that there's a chance is totally different.

Going 4-0 vs 3-1 in OOC is a determining factor in how your team progresses? We are going 0-8 in conference play. So, one OOC game means what? Keeping your job?

Thanks for posting. I miss reading Jay G Tate's work.

'm still not sure what Auburn has in the young man from south Florida. I feel like Auburn knows -- and they're not smitten. They're being too careful

It takes Gus 4 games every year to figure out what he has with a team. And based upon what they did with JJ. I'm not sure they know what they have with White.

quote:

In fact, all the chatter we hear out of the Athletic Complex suggests this coaching staff still considers Johnson a viable candidate to play quarterback this season. I don't think they're planning to bump White in favor of Jeremy Johnson v2.1

I hope that Gus and his Yes Man are not this dense.
