i don't even remember what we were debating in this thread anymore... was it Gus should've started Malik or that Malik is better than Nick?

I started this thread after tuning into the Liberty game last night and seeing just how good Willis is. If Gus had utilized him as he did Marshall, Gus would probably still be at Auburn. Imagine Willis with Tank last year, or with the receivers we had. Instead, we got a backward pass trying to clock the football and back up QBs that no other SEC team would offer.

The point of the OP is, Gus was horrible and let a diamond getaway.

Bo Nix is more talented than Malik Willis.

It sucks for you but it is true.

Head Coaches don’t pay their bills by playing their favorites. They play the guys that offer the team the best chance of success.

While Bo Nix is battling against Penn State, you’re growling over what if’s just because Malik Willis looked alright (but choked) against a team that has already lost to Rutgers.

In your opinion. There's a lot of people, who make a lot of money, picking guys for their team that plays on Sundays. I'll defer to them on their analysis of talent, over yours. What round do you see Nix getting drafted in? If Willis is projected to be a 1st round pick, I guess that means, by your assessment Nix will be the overall 1st pick?

Last time I checked, football is a team sport I know this isn't part of your thought process, so I'll help you out with a question. Which team has more overall talent, Liberty or Syracuse? Think that may have had anything to do with the outcome of that game? Has Liberty, in the history of their program, ever signed a player rated above a 3*?

I wouldn’t have really minded having Malik Willis the last 2 seasons and I do wonder if that would have changed things. But that thought train depends on Gus using him the way he did with NM which he didn’t seem to show any interest in returning to

I think Nix is probably more talented but we’ve seen how talent doesn’t always translate

Willis fumbled with 3 minutes to go in the game.

Who knows. Talent doesn’t always win out. Wasn’t that your point about Gus and Willis?. Getting drafted doesn’t mean he will stick either. I pity the team that drafts Willis in the first round though.

Lol nope. Not as elusive. Couldn’t do RPOs. Fumbles a lot.

Nick Marshall ran a 4.54 at the Combine, he wasn't even the fastest QB that ran that year - Oregon's Marcus Mariota actually ran a faster time.

He was a good runner playing in the perfect system which had a running attack that was basically unstoppable. Wow, he was able to keep the ball and run with it playing alongside a RB that would basically go for 5-10+ yards every time he touched the ball and 150-200 yards a game. They literally just spammed the run to Greg Robinson's side and could do that up and down the field.

Malik Willis barely touched the ball, and your basis of comparison is what? His performance in a Gus Malzahn offense that was already broken at that point? Even still, Malik Willis today isn't anything like the player he was at Auburn. The idea of comparing Junior and senior year Nick Marshall playing in a FUNCTIONING Malzahn offense to Freshman/Sophomore Malik Willis playing in the BROKEN iteration of Malzahn's offense is nonsense.

If you actually watch Malik Willis last season or this season, he is clearly superior and more talented than NicK Marshall ever was. Hence why he's going to play the position in the NFL (as a high round pick at that) versus the other guy who threw at the Combine so poorly that he was basically told to go put the DB jersey on and never line up behind the center again. Malik Willis has highlight after highlight of him making absurd runs; juking guys out, and busting HUGE gains. I would be very surprised if he doesn't run faster than 4.54.

Did I?

What a retarded statement.

I said that he was a huge long-term project. Newsflash: I was right.

He spent 4 years at Kentucky and went Undrafted. He wasn't even invited to the Combine.

Then he spent almost 2 years on Dallas' Practice Squad, and they ultimately didn't even retain him...hence why he's now playing for Baltimore.

Wow, you really got me!

Yea you did. His length. His hips. His flexibility. Long, detailed Metafour post of BS.

Meanwhile you think sushi raw Willis will be playing on Sundays. And I don’t see it. So back off.

Did you watch the game? If so, what was your impression of Liberty's pass protection?

Even better "what if"....Freeze was our coach for the last two years and Willis was still on the team. We saw what Gus did with Nix, and we've seen what Freeze did with Willis. How much better would Nix be right now?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Willis get his scholarship offer on signing day, due to missing on some guys on signing day?

Gus!

Are we all arguing just to be arguing? Frick Malik Willis and frick Liberty. Who gives a shite? He left and he admitted himself he didn’t put the work in at AU.

With that said I wish him the best but can we stop fretting over every player that leaves AU. Exception is Cat Bryant because he ran his mouth.
