We can pick Caste apart and it is easy to do so because of his height , his exit, and his QBR, but if he plays with eyes wide open and his heart full then we will win again. I admit he is not the top QB I wanted, but I liked what I saw from him in the few games I witnessed, so he could be worst. He isnt DJ Uingaleilei or Brock Vandagriff bad. We need to get away from the QB needing to be our savior though. He needs to be the PG first and scorer second. Once we get there we will have better QBs lining up to play for us.

Damn, I feel like we're going all in so fast for this guy. Gotta watch film and check out why.

Pavia wins. If Castellanos was stacking wins against quality opponents, no one would be complaining.

Pavia "winning" is hilariously over exaggerated.

In 2022 NMSU finished 7-6. They lost to 2-10 Nevada, 5-7 UTEP, and 4-8 FIU.

In 2023 NMSU finished 10-5. They lost to 3-9 UMass and 5-8 Hawaii.

So in both of his NMSU seasons, Pavia lost multiple games to teams that ended up being much worse than his own. If this guy is this mythical "winner", shouldn't he be walking through the garbage teams on their schedule?

Vanderbilt is 6-4 this season and they lost to 2-7 Georgia State (what happened there?). They really haven't beaten anyone apart from Alabama. Apart from that likely fluke they have beaten 5-5 VTech, 3-6 Kentucky, and our 3-6 Auburn team. And Pavia played like crap against us; they didn't win the game because of his play.

Pavia's career "winning" is really only relegated to beating Alabama this year, and bullying Hugh Freeze. He has no other signature wins. He lost both games to Liberty last year during his 10-win NMSU season, and then they got killed by Fresno State in their Bowl game.

I haven't seen any mention of him from any mods. If we're just throwing out names that have been mentioned then John Mateer is another. He's reportedly already getting 7 figure offers. I haven't seen him play so i can't say if he's worth that

Matter looks like a true duel threat. Had a really good game against Washington that proves he can do it on a high level. Right now these names are just pipe dreams until they start taking visits though.

Probably safe to say Castellanos won’t be the only offer we give out for. Transfer QB. I do think he will be a major target, he has a lot of skills that Hugh likes.

The rumors are he may be committing as soon as next week
Throwing money at the first kid that enters the portal isn't how this needs to go. Hugh needs to take his time and be selective. If we land him next week it's gonna be tough to get excited during the offseason.

It beats waiting too long too pull the trigger on someone you thought could do what you needed and watching them go elsewhere and then having to settle for someone who can't get the job done.... See Thorne.

I don’t think that is really what is happening here. The only reason this seems like it is moving fast, if it does end up happening, is because we as fans are just learning about it. I can guarantee the staff is ahead of where we are regarding this and probably have a decent idea who will be entering and who won’t, and who we want to go after and who we don’t.

I did not realize he was a short king. He definitely doesn't have NFL measurables in that sense but it can be still work in college if the guy is supremely talented. Don't know enough about him to make that call though.

You are such a chode. Dude beats Auburn twice, Alabama and had Texas on the ropes but metafour says its HILARIOUSLY over exaggerated.

What an idiot

This dipshit just named 3 wins over the span of 3 seasons (2 of which came against some of the worst AU teams in recent history) as proof for why Pavia is a apparently a "WINNER" LOL. Meanwhile, I named 6 losses which came against teams that had a much worse record than whatever team Pavia was playing for (ie: Pavia lost to worse teams than his own).

He has more "bad losses" in his career than he does "big wins". He lost every game that actually mattered last season at NMSU.

You are a masterful debater!

I didn't realize that having Texas "against the ropes" also qualifies as a win. Who knew. By that logic, Peyton Thorne beat Bama last season? He actually came even closer than Pavia did, considering that we were actually about to win until a last-second hail mary lost the game.

And I'm the idiot? Just how low is your fricking barometer. Wow, he beat a ~4 win Auburn team! Give him the Heisman NOW! What's even more ridiculous is that he did next to nothing against our 4-win team LOL. This homie over here is giving him credit for a win in a game wherein Pavia completed ~40% of his passes for ~150 yards .

Why would the fact that it is "at Vandy" change anything? Vandy has twice as many wins this season than both Auburn and Kentucky. That means that they are a better team. Virginia Tech has 5 wins, and hasn't been relevant since ~2017.

Fact: In three seasons Pavia has beaten Alabama, and a handful of BAD teams.

By the way, Vandy went 18-8 over two seasons just ~11 years ago. Jordan Rodgers won more games at Vanderbilt than Pavia will end up winning. If Pavia is a "winner", what does that make Jordan Rodgers then? NCAA Tom Brady?

If you cant figure that out on your own, then there's no point talking with you. You are mentally incapable

eta: frick it, I'll spell it out for you in crayon. Vandy was 2-10 last year with ZERO SEC wins. While you may downplay the wins because they were against bad SEC teams, you fail to recognize that Vandy is in fact, a bad SEC team. Therefore, have a winning record in the SEC @ Vandy and going to bowl game after being completely winless in the SEC and only have 2 wins on the season proves Pavia is a winner. Welcome to reality, thanks for playing

If this is our transfer QB I’d be absolutely shocked. They didnt beg for 2 mill+ to get Thomas Castellanos.
