Disorganization? Lack of discipline? Idiotic play-calling? NO EXCUSE.

The penalty on 3rd and a yard because we were disorganized in substituting was the worst. Just a coaching fail. That’s the type of thing that gives little hope for the future under Freeze.

Last years team was worse. Got gifted a w against Mizzou at home. Barely beat San Jose. Finished 5-7 only because Cadillac willed us to a win over a broken TAMU team (13-10).

Might be the worst Auburn team I’ve seen since 2012. Offense is soft, defense is soft, special teams is alright. The honeymoon period is over; things have to change.

Defense has played well until they get totally exhausted (other than parts of the LSU game, but we were dealing with injuries and fatigue also). They have no depth, so what do we expect?

Offense, yes they suck. See paragraph above.

Coaching. Pick a damn QB and ride.
Throw the damn football more than 3 yards downfield occasionally other than 3rd and long.
Trick plays don't work when you can't even complete a damn pass for 12-15 yards on 1st down. Ole Miss was screaming "DOUBLE PASS, DOUBLE PASS!!!" before we even snapped the ball during that fiasco.
6 pass attempts for 26 yards halfway through the 4th quarter isn't going to win games in the SEC.

A question to ponder:

If we currently had Head Coach Caddy, would we be 3-4 right now?

Worse?

Better?

Would Coach Caddy (with some decent coordinator and assistant coach hires) have had us better situated to take advantage of a weak A&M team on the road and a vulnerable OM team at J-H?

Maybe not. Probably not.

But Hugh sure as hell ain't inspiring any goddam confidence, that's for sure.

Rah Rah and cheerleading can only do so much.

Are you serious right now?

So true. Hence the bumpy ride to modern football. Let's ride.

I totally see what you are saying, but honestly, rah rah with a competent coaching staff would be better than Freezus.

The assumption of a great coaching staff is a tall one.
As long as people are self interested they will find the situation that is going to make them look better. Caddy would've been a risk to the lifestyle for the good coaches. Deion was a risk too. Hence Charles Kelly being there right now.

Not to mention Caddy cannot even recruit HS players well. How is he going to recruit grown men?

Nope. Just a futile thought exercise.

Auburn would have turned on their own too. Its best Caddy just stays a legend for his own sake because its not like he is that talented at anything in coaching.

Funny.

I thought this was a discussion board.

Not a "only jang-approved topics allowed" board,.

WEIRD.

We may or may not have a win or more this season. Caddy is barely an average recruiter for running backs. Unless he just got one hell of a recruiting staff and who would come coach for a head coach that has 5 years coaching experience and only has an SEC job because he’s an Auburn hero.

Not one other team in this conference would trade running back coaches or even consider hiring Caddy for head coach. Caddy more than likely if he wanted to be a head coach could even get a G5 job. He would have to go D-II, D-III, or HBCU to even get consideration.

That’s not a knock on Caddy he just isn’t the personality to be a head coach. He’s a great man. He’s a great Auburn man. But he is the weakest running back coach I can remember at Auburn

So true. But he is the ESPN tears guy so accept your downvotes with dignity.

No downvote from me since he took that time to actually address my pondering rather than brush it off.

I basically mentioned some of his points. I just did not take the time to write all of that. Corch did well enough so make his thoughts mine

One of the reasons why Coach Caddy was “successful” last year is because in the back of our minds we all knew it was just for the short term and we didn’t even expect him to win a game, really. And just wanted to get rid of Potato gang. He did us a favor and was already a hero in AU lore. Don’t kid yourself and think we would be better off with him this year. All the rah rah stuff would get real old real fast if we were losing every week, which we would be. Only positive I could entertain is that we would definitely have an offensive identity of running the ball, which would be nice I can’t lie. It’s mind-numbing to watch this offense do a whole lot of nothing.
