We need a summary of every credible coaching candidate, along with a degree of liklihood, pros/cons and have that added into the OP.

If we could keep that updated it would be a nice place to check periodically for the latest news on each candidate.

That is exactly what I wanted this thread to be, but I haven't had time to do that. If someone does, I'll gladly add it.

OK. I'll do the layup:
Bobby Petrino - Former Arkansas HC
Pros: Proven HC - NFL and NCAA, offensive guru, knows how to recruit in the SEC, no buy-out, knows AU culture, big name hire, NFL connections.
Con: Potential PR hit, questionable character
Probability: 30%

Update that with better info if you have it.

Jimbo Fisher - Florida State HC
Pros: Brought FSU "back" very quickly, coached under Saban, knows AU culture, steal from a big-name school. Wants to come back to Auburn. Recruits at a similar level to Chiz & Troop. Could bring bak D. Craig and E. Gran.
Con: Seems to drop games he shouldn't - even after higher-ranked recruiting classes than us, has a buyout we'd have to pay, might not push against the "good ol' boy network".
Probability: 40%

And I'd call 30% for BP way too high. maybe 10% or 15%.

@ScottR334
After speaking to those in the know...as of today J. Fisher is the leading candidate to be named the head coach at #Auburn after Iron Bowl

@ScottR334
Things are changing several times daily when it comes to the#Auburn coaching search but all signs point to Jimbo Fisher

@ScottR334
@aubietiger14 I wouldn't be ecstatic but I wouldn't be disappointed. Upgrade from Chizik.

@ScottR334
Also, it appears that Jacobs will remain the AD unless things seriously change over the next few weeks #Auburn
@ScottR334
Example of how things change: Jacobs was on pace to be jobless last week now he remains the AD. Support from Gouge and others

nothing potential about it... i'm not necessarily against hiring the guy, but it'd be a HUGE PR hit.

Jimbo. I mean, I'll take him, but... meh. Lord forbid we hire anybody that doesn't have AU connections.

As bad as this sounds, we need to get our doors blown off by UGA and 'Bama to make Gogue think twice about retaining Jacobs. Under Jacobs, this program will continue to be run by the good ole boy network.

Not going after Petrino is going to come back to bite us. Big-time.

I understand why y'all don't get ecstatic about Jimbo but honestly who's better? The only one I think is Patterson. Maybe Petrino if you factor in his baggage.

Describe the ideal candidate:

Head coaching experience who is a proven winner, has disciplined teams. Not many of those available. Jimbo would be a huge hire.

According to someone I've never heard of on FamilyEagle, Jimbo isn't expected to stay at FSU for the bowl game. He sounded like he knew what he was talking about, so it must be true.

I just have a hard time fathoming that he would leave an Orange Bowl birth to come to AU early, but I thought it was interesting.
