IF its Smart. I will support. Wasnt my first 4 or 5 choices. But whatever. He has been impressive at Bama recruiting and running a defense.

Still want Petrino, but Smart is at least more interesting than some of the other names. Interesting not meaning better, just curiously intriguing.

Damn it. Now I have to shift my paradigm all over again.

Now that we're all pretty accepting of Smart, it'll probably turn out to be Malzahn.

I was just thinking the same thing.

Everytime we accept a step back, we take another back.

Do not believe the rumors. Kirby Smart is not the primary candidate. I still expect Bobby Petrino. If it falls through and Smart is hired JJ needs to be fired immediately and Pat Dye is still in control.

According to Mark and Jason @ ITAT we are still interviewing coaches today. I trust them 1000x more than any of the other so called insiders.

I put'em on the same level. I never thought we'd get to either.

I'm not going to argue with you, becuase you very may well be right. I think malzhan is worse becuase we've delt with him before, he's not an unknown, we know his offense will struggle against the big boys in our division and without a superstar we can expect mediocre results.

Im not in favor of Gus yet at AU but i cant agree with saying he would struggle.

In 09, it was year one in his offense...in '11, we had the youngest team in the NCAA.

I think his offense would do fine with some consistency and have a QB for more than one season.

I just don't think he's a great talent evaluator and he never impressed me.

But i'm far from a savant at coaching analysis...just think of the lower teir coaches we considered he doesn't rise to the top.

I disagree. His offense worked just fine in 2009 with an average OL and Todd at qb. It didn't work in 2011 because we had a shitty OL and Chizik took away a major part of what makes his offense work to save his defense.

We have NOT hired Kirby. Not saying we will not, but folks that would know and need to know have not been told yet.

Seems to be a common statement, i just don't buy it. It rolled against soft schools, it was average against better schools

Now i know we weren't a great team, but don't think he'll put together great teams so i expect simlar results...if he were hired of course.

You said in another thread you have no sources. So how the hell would you know that the people who need to know don't know?

The rwo bad ones were uk and arky.

Really not that bad.

According to PM, BP spoke with the AU Search committee on Monday. The convo was cordial but Petrino is not thought to be in the mix to replace Chizik.
