I am not saying Patterson will leave TCU, but the fact that is is willing to talk to Auburn tells me there is a chance.

Some of you need to take a realistic pill. Coaches don't look for jobs that have more problems then the one they're already at for the same amount of money.

If he wasn't interested, he didn't have to interview. Nobody is saying he's definitely coming here, but there's no reason Auburn can't give him a damn lot to think about

you might as well just tell everyone you know nothing about football.

Or I wasn't thinking? Pretty sure I conceded that earlier.

That is not a long term solution

No, it's the bridge solution until he gets his own players in to run his system. A 4-2-5 would help to hide our lack of true LBer ability in the short term as opposed to a 3-4 system, which in the short term at least, would expose our deficiencies on the Dline and in the LBer corp.

I don't really want Kirby Smart period, but if we end up with any 3-4 guy we're going to have to accept that our defense will HURT for a while before we improve. 3-4 is popular, especially since so many teams run it so successfully in the NFL, but we do not remotely possess the personnel to jump out of the gate and run it well.

I also read that, but PM said some are beginning to wonder if he will even get an interview.

Number of well connected people want Petrino and to not interview him would be just as bad as hiring him in terms of anger in the fanbase.

Lots of people that I know are extremely well connected have said they thought Petrino would get hired so I have a hard time believing he won't get at least an interview (just people's thoughts that know stuff typically not based on any factual evidence they have received)

Really starting to believe these media guys don't have any better clue of what's going on than we do.

Jay Tate said at the beginning of the search that Petrino has been promised an interview, and now PM says "some are beginning to wonder"?

PM messes around with too many rumors and hearsay. One thing I like about JGT is normally doesn't post stuff unless he can confirm it. PM posts a lot of unsubstantiated crap about what he's "hearing."

But to AU's credit, there's hardly any info getting leaked about the search, and I think some of these writers are fishing a lot.

If these beat writers don't have anything to write how do they justify making their subscribers pay 10$/month for nothing?

PM does work with a ton of rumors which is annoying and Tate is significantly better but at some point those guys have to write at least something down

Ya what does your friend say about the coaching search. Just curious what they have heard.

Everyone I know in the AD isn't high enough to know/ the few that are my relationship with them is more important than fishing for info I'll know the ansewr to in 3 days

His family member's lips are sealed, so he's not getting anything to pass to me.

Anything I've passed on in the past month and a half or so has been hearsay my parents have picked up one way or another.

A caption from PM's latest update a few minutes ago. Not a subscriber so I couldn't read whole thing. If anybody can summarize the update in full, TIA.

quote:

Arkansas State head coach Gus Malzahn apparently interviewed Sunday with the committee searching for Auburn's next head football coach.

So our two confirmed interviews at this point have been Malzahn and Smart. Frickin' awesome.
