If you look at the list of candidates it actually makes sense. A good portion are preparing for games this weekend.

People bring up Malzahn's name a lot. My question - is anyone concerned he would be too lax with players? Could he be part of the problem that our team is soft? What about discipline issues? He gave Dyer another chance at Ark State
.

I also am concerned with the dicipline aspects of hiring Malzahn. He was part of the crew who watched the team go from Tuberville tough to Chizik soft. We need a completely fresh start.

I think Patterson will wait around for the Texas job. Kind of crazy if he doesn't.

someone on the bunker said his friend in BR who owns a tshirt printing company (he said similar to J&M) licensed by LSU said he got an order of 10k shirts that say "Petrineaux"

could be trolling but who knows...it's a somewhat respected poster from what I remember

Patterson isn't the lead guy but there is definitely interest. Don't think he'll do a formal interview but if we came after him he would listen. Also interst in Peterson, don't know if he has any interest in us though.

Also, Auburn has interest, we are told, in Boise State coach Chris Petersen. Whether Petersen has interest or how much is not certain. He is also rumored to be in the mix at Arkansas

Patterson is 116-34 (.733) 7-4 in bowls and has 4 Mountain West championships and a C-USA championship. He's 1-1 in BCS bowls.

Peterson is 82-8 (.911) 4-2 in bowls and has 4 WAC championships. He's 2-0 in BCS bowls.

Just can't wrap my head around Patterson not being one of if not the leading candidate considering how much pressure is on JJ. If he gets this hire wrong, he's done (might be done anyway). And all these other up-and-comers are going to be ahead of a proven winner?

Doesn't make any sense.

...and yet the belief is that the likes of Malzahn, Kirby Smart, Charlie Strong and others are ahead of these two in the pecking order.

If this turns out to be true, JJ's incompetence is worse than we all thought.

This is just my opinion, but I don't see us being able to hire a Patterson,Peterson, etc. Petrino would be the only "homerun hire" we can make, but there are too many people against it and I believe Jacobs is too.

I think we are looking at a "B" coach like a Malzahn.

Hope I'm wrong, but that's the feeling I'm getting and history doesn't support anything different.

I hope you're wrong, also. Will be so pissed if we frick this up and go with 'safe' hire malzahn or some other shite-kicking 'up and coming' coach....

I just got a text from a friend. He said Luginbill was on the finebaum show and said Petrino would be our next HC.
