absolutely. If the NCAA is investigating auburn for recruting irregularities who is to say that gus isn't invovled, if for nothing else than turning a blind eye while trooper was out there.

You want inside knowledge.. It was ALL Gene's fault, tell you Bammer buddies that the cancer is gone... The last three Auburn coaches all had perfect seasons, the next one will also.

stop this crap.. Trooper is holding this class together... Trooper does some secondary stuff, but we are not under major problems with the NCAA...

Trooper is working today.. If there was any concern, he would have been gone...

why? I'm not saying they're getting busted for anything but you want to tell me that the coaching staff, possibly dating back to when malzhan was here is flawless?

I dont' recall saying anything about it being major, but i will call it a constant annoyance.

I'd just prefer to have a fresh start from folks that worked with/under chiz.

Can you handle that shite?

I agree. Trooper is extremely important right now and whether the new coach retains him will probably significantly impact this year's recruiting class.

I know you didn't make a direct reference to keeping any particular coaches in this statement, but since we are using cancer as a metaphor, you know what you do when you have cancer? Cut all the tissue that was directly surrounding it or touching away. Ya dig?

I'm not digging the Trooper hate. He's never gotten us in to major trouble, and he's good at his job. I can see him being a recruiting coord, and pulling in $500/mill a year. There's no reason to feed the trolls about Troop. Bammers hate him because he's good at what he does.

Recent Marshall article on coaching provided very little, probable 7-10 days, chance of this week.

The committee has taken a vow of silence... Supposedly, Dye not involved....

Please, I want anyone but Kirby Smart.

Jimbo could be announced Monday after they win the ACC Saturday night.

It can be up to him if he wants to come now or stay until after the Orange Bowl. The difference is minimal.

I'm new around here so and have no direct inside knowledge so take it with a grain of salt. I don't see any of the home-run names out there (such as Saban in 07). Other than The Fishers, it looks like we might get our "Mike Shula" until other things pan out. I hear Kirby Smart. He would have to decontaminate and get the Bammer Sleaze off. Also hear the likes of Bo Pelini, Mike Gundy, and Larry Fedora.

Not sure how I like any of these names.

AU administration would have some major balls if they attempted to hire him. If AU goes to Smart and he says no..... think about how that portrays upon the in-state media and such. It's a huge risk to pursue someone on a rival's staff.

There's not much steam around any of those names. Gundy is happy in Stillwater.. he's not an option. Larry Fedora just put his feet on the ground at UNC. I don't know the situation around Pelini at Nebraska.

Chill man. No need to be an arse. He's just saying what he's heard like everyone else in this thread.

Also hearing Chuck Neinas is assisting with the search and that Crawford will be sitting in on the interviews.

not only that, but i wonder how recruiting would go...you've been negative (i would assume) recruting against us for years now, i would assume highschool coaches would understand that now we're his employer so obviously it was all bullshite but i still think it would be odd.

Oh and i don't think he's a good candidate.

Just read PM's Coaching Search 1 pm update and he said that Gus Malzahn is very much in the mix at Arky and he is not sure how where he stands with AU as far as other candidates go.
