Malzahn’s offense was easy to understand. There were two assignments to learn and the rest was technique.

What a disappointing career he had at AU.

TIL he’s set his sights on the NFL. Good luck with that.

Good for him. He might be the largest bust of a recruit that we had in the last decade.

Gus was surprised he was fired

Then he's dumber than I ever thought.

Or he bought into Jimmy Sexton telling him "They'll never fire you with your buyout."

Either way, it doesn't bode well for Gus' judgement. If I were him, I'd call Chiz and tell him not to be putting words in my mouth on television.

Even that OL was garbage. Remember we gave up 11 sacks to Clemson

And if you look back on the OTs we have on roster they’re either new to football, the offensive line, or America in general

Yeah, I think this goes back to all the negative recruiting done against Gus and his system. We HAD to take those kind of guys because we were whiffing hard on all the first choices.

So our only choices were major projects that ultimately weren't gonna get the development they needed. You're right, after Gus'first couple years it was a vicious cycle of projects with no coaching. Mainly due to every other coach in the league pointing to G-Rob. Braden Smith was the exception to the rule of Auburn offensive linemen and he wasn't a tackle at first.

Him and Byron Cowart are battling it out for the spot. Cowart is still our highest ever rated recruit, I believe.

Not to be a Gus defender, but the big schools sort of killed his system. Which was you may be 3-4 deep at every position, but my one's are going to run whatever you have on the field ragged, and I'm not going to give you chance to sub or for them to even ketch a breath.

Yeah, I can see a reason for the change; however it made the endurance guys less relevant against the Goliath's. You might say the rich got richer.

To clarify, there was no negative recruiting. That implies someone is making false claims against you. Recruits and coaches could see Gus could not develop lineman. It was like Spurrier telling Georgia kids UGA would never beat him.

Saban crying to his buddy Emertt to get the substitution rule changed killed Gus. He never could recover from it. Well, that and going away from DT QBs.

Can't believe our recruiting guys are just now understanding the OL issues. We have been complaining about this since 2015.

It’s unbelievable that more people weren’t screaming about this. It’s more unbelievable that we’ve been as good as we have been given that fact.
