Here’s the issue. Auburn doesn’t have the talent they had with Chizik or when Gus took over. Say what you want about the chiz, but he could recruit. He was hot coach coming from TX.
I would put this teams talent against those teams.

All those points were excellent but the most important one (recruiting) is the one that has to change ASAP. No matter what X's and O's there are the talent won't be able to keep up.

Agree. The portal will be a factor as well. I guess my larger point is we aren't lacking in coaching and program management with Harsin.

metofor I read this and I don't have a response. It's Jim Jones-ish.

I'd like Auburn to win football games and you seem concerned with who wins those games. Perhaps you have a vested interest. I don't.

I'm trying to understand what you are saying here. Tailback is your concern?

I think he's referring to me, not our actual Tailbacks.

I'm willing to give Harsin the benefit of the doubt because A) I like the guy and believe in the principles of discipline, execution, and condition that he preaches
B) He's not a "system" guy, he's a culture guy, and long-term I think that is the way to build a program
C) As far as recruiting goes, I'll grant you that it doesn't look great but a lot of that is not of his own making (NIL) and I think it'll iron itself out if our boosters will let him do his job and get behind him a la Mark Stoops. Give the guy some time and let him build a program. We ain't beating UGA and Bama anytime soon no matter who is coach.
D) I think the transfer portal is a new frontier in recruiting and he sees that.

Like I said, I like the guy and hope he succeeds, and I believe we'll see a competitive team on Saturday. We're looking like a 7-5, 8-4 team and that's moving in the right direction. We build, grow, and improve steadily with players who are both competitive and a culture fit. if we fire him after year 2 then we get what we deserve.

Look at that clown in College Station...he's got all the talent in the world and he lost to a G5 Sunbelt team at home.

People on this board bitch like we are gonna be UGA with the "right coach". We're not. Ain't happening. But we can be a great program that plays for it all every so often if we're patient and play our cards right.

I think that guy is Harsin. Others don't.

Outside of RB this team does not have any talent whatsoever on the offensive side of the ball. Defense is a little better but not much.

You want them to answer a question based on a hypothetical year 3?

You're just wrong. Statistics back it up. I'll have this conversation with you once we lose a game.

Randy, you following recruiting much better than I.

Do you think it is likely we focus more on the portal --- given the needs we will have next year (And frankly, the needs we currently have).

I felt like this was one area we could be well positioned and have been disappointed with how little we have gone after big players --- again -- I would think any AU coach could make the case that playing time is there for the taking to these talented guys riding the bench at other programs.

You could’ve just said you had nothing. We all know fingers and toes aren’t great for calculus.

- Is the program organized and well managed? – It seems so to me. Gus couldn’t manage a roster and was lax on off-season training. Pittman’s methods are old school and can cause injuries, but Auburn won’t suffer pussies while this staff is here.

Results say otherwise. We mauled people
Under Gus until 2 years ago. Some was smoke and mirrors but we could also line up against any team and run. We got bad QB play in some games or years but not being physical was a Gus’s teams traits. I’m still waiting to see what this grand workout plan is. We rarely win anything in 1 on 1 battles.

I'm open to hearing what "statistics" you have that prove the level of talent on our current roster. Particularly on offense. Why do you need to wait until we lose?

I don't think we have any option other than to hit the portal hard and heavy but I would have thought that last year too. Whether it's by design or by failure to bring in highly sought after guys, we haven't had any more luck in the portal than we have with high schoolers so far under Harsin.

You don’t fire a guy after one season unless some personal motive is at play.

I don’t know who had it but someone did. Had nothing to do with football or recruiting. Purely personal. Look at history. No school has ever fired a guy year 1 they way he competed all year and the culture he is creating. So quit acting like it was football related.
