Well, a minimal buyout. 2 cases of beer, and 4 large 3 topping pizzas would do it. Then we could sit and discuss what went wrong

Been thinking and looking at what is going on around college football. If we do end up looking for a new coach, it is going to have to be a hungry up and coming coach.
I think in today's world, if you are in a P4 job, you can win and build something. Look at Cignetti. No need for him to go to Penn State or somewhere else. They are investing in Indiana. Why would Rhett leave SMU? P4 job, got tons of support. He can build something. Same with Clark Lea and the guy at Ga. Tech.
We will need to really make a good choice and get that next guy that is going to be a program builder. And that is no easy task. Plenty that have looked like they had it all at one level move up and fail.

I've been saying this shite for like two weeks now smh. The transfer portal has introduced parity, now add in the extra money coming to these "lower tier" schools form realignment/TV deals and it means that there is significantly less reason to leave if you are already winning.

A few things that I need some of you to understand:
1) This team has massive HC issues, not just OC issues. Replacing the OC/QB coach or whoever else will not fix the HC's glaring problems, which by now are evident and repetitive. The logic that you can somehow just turn Freeze into a recruiting coordinator is among the dumbest things I have ever heard. Who is setting the tone and personality for the team? Who is the boss in charge? Who is driving the program? When the game is tied at halftime, who is leading the preparation for the second half?
2) You will not get a "top OC" to come here given the noose that Freeze has over his neck. Ok fine - lets pretend he wins ~5-6 games again and we give him another year. That means that next year is his LAST YEAR - period. What "top OC" is going to leave their current job to come here when there is an absurdly high chance that everyone is getting fired in 2026 regardless? Don't give me some stupid argument about money: a top OC can get paid elsewhere where the HC isn't seconds away from termination. Even if our boosters really believe we "should be 5-1", other actual coaches are not stupid and they can see the state of Freeze's program. Good luck with this plan.
The other part to this is that Freeze has already had a big-name OC (Philip Montgomery) and he threw him under the bus and canned him after just one season. So there isn't even good precedent for any actual OC looking at this job. Even if some "top OC" decided to stupidly risk his job on Freeze and did take the job and it works out, how do they know that Freeze won't start reinserting himself back into the offense? This is what Malzahn did, and Freeze clearly isn't trustworthy at all, nor can he keep himself from doing what he wants to do.
3) There is going to be roster turnover regardless of keeping or firing Freeze. Bringing him back will not keep players from leaving. There has been far too much failure and broken promises to assume that Freeze is just going to con certain players for the ~third time into staying here. "But but but we're going to get a new OC and a new QB!" - yeah, he's already used this one up. Even if you want to keep the roster in tact, the price-tag to do so will be massive. You're going to need to pay over market-price for some of these guys....is that even worth it? Coleman and Singleton have a combined 4 touchdowns - the return on their investment is really poor. And it will get even worse considering that those guys are going to ask for the moon to stay here given how crap the offense has been.

Agree with metafour. If you have to micromanage a coach, you've already lost. You need a new HC at that point.

Meta is right
Fans dont want Freeze; the board wants him.
When Freeze is kept there will concessions made and the beat writer shills will pound the table hard all offseason that we fixed the KEY problem. Rinse Repeat til Freeze is fired.

it would be interesting to tally up the total amount we’ve spent already propping Freezus up, including buying out assistants, facilities upgrades, NIL, etc
that said, i worry about the guy, he really looks like he’s in awful shape

I'm going to say it, and I hate it, I wish we had Lane Kiffin

If you look at Freeze coaching stats and record at Auburn, he’s arguable the worst coach in school history.
Saw today that we are the first team since 2018 to have three straight games with more than 10 penalties.
Hugh lost his first four SEC games in a row in 2023 and 2024. Does he make it three straight years tomorrow?
This guy is really bad.

He's never been a good gameday coach. Neither is Kirby or Saban. Their angle is recruiting, but Freeze is sucking at that, too.
