Either way. There are like four or five jobs above Auburn that will soon be open. We are either waiting to hire the leftovers or waiting so we can have the excuse to have brainrot as our coach one more year.

Pete Thamel just posted LSU is in discussions with Kelly about his departure. I’m assuming they’ll swing big for Lane and Lanning.

I understand that - Ed O wasn't the head coach of Tulane at the time either.
I understand how Louisiana politics work - it would never fly for LSU to hire a football coach from Tulane.
(No matter how good the coach might be)

They might get Lane but they won't getting Lanning. No one would leave Oregon for almost any other school. Too much NIL money up there with an easier path to playoffs.

I want Freeze gone. My head is saying we give him another year. Outside of our usual bone heads that claim insider and are never right, there is no indication we want to fire Freeze.

Gus took us to a natty as OC, runner up to Natty as HC, and two sec titles.
Firing him set us back cause he wasn't a 6 win max coach like Freeze.
Freeze had 1 good season at Ole Miss and Liberty and he sweet talked his way into being our head coach.

With all the schools currently looking for a new HC, if we enter the fray, who you got? The next Sunbelt Billy? Or, is Jimmy Rane going to lure away someone like Lanning? Methinks the first option is the most likely.

We are a QB away from being undefeated right now. Go get a top tier offensive staff. Throw some crazy money at a current OC that's killing it at a lessor school, and give him our talent to work with.
