That will have to be Plan B and I’d go for Sumrall if that happened. But you’ve got to start by taking your best shot at Franklin. The guy is 128-60 as a HC, mostly in the Big 10. PSU fricked up big time firing him in this environment. There is zero chance PSU hires a better coach and a 100% chance there is a feeding frenzy for Franklin’s services. We have to do our best to win it. If we can’t, fine. Then I’m in on a young up and comer as a back up plan.

It will take every penny we have, promises we may not be able to keep, and some sweet talking. But we have to lay everything on the table for Franklin.

Number 1, Franklin barely beat anyone with a pulse at Penn St, he'd be a terrible hire. But number 2, he shouldn't cost that much at all if he goes somewhere. His contract with Penn St has an offset clause, so whatever he makes at his new school will come out of his buyout. So he'd be much better off taking a lower salary and spending money on assistants and NIL till his buyout is paid.

If Franklin goes somewhere it's going to be based on fit rather than money.

You can't reason with these fools. We would be lucky to land Franklin. It has been 13 years since we have won a meaningful game and these jabronis are complaining about Franklin almost making the title game last year.

Yes, he would dumbass. Tuberville had an unbeaten National Championship team. Franklin has been at Penn State 15 years and hasn't managed to beat OSU when it mattered even once.

Tuberville fielded multiple teams that would spank Franklin.

He was born and raised in Trussville. He’d be a lot closer to his family.

I'll give you a comparison you might understand: James Franklin is Aaron Boone. The literal perfect comparison.

Franklin is our best possible hire. Would a young up and comer maybe work out and do better in the long run? It’s possible. But Franklin is proven. PSU was absolutely delusional for firing him. He had them in the playoffs and won 10+ games most years he was their HC. There is a 100% chance Penn State has a worse HC than Franklin next year.

But you’re 100% right. There is just no reasoning with some of these posters.

It's a no brainer. Exactly why we won't do it.

lol for real. Learn some geography folks. Auburn isn’t that far from Atlanta compared Birmingham. The wildcards being I85/I20 on a given day.

Give a young guy a shot. Maybe someone not really associated with Auburn. Dillingham, or maybe Jerry Neuheisel.

I want something new as much as anyone but a guy that has called plays for 3 games and is 32 is not the answer.
